  1. You can't always rely on WOT if nobody has voted on the site, Rich. It is all voluntary. Thousands of sites are gray. Free PC Help Forum is gray,
  2. Nod 32 won't let me go to bad sites. Get a blocking popup immediately.:) I liked the Sygate Firewall in the beginning as well.
  3. @ Donetao. Good Night.:)
  4. I wasn't waiting to nail you, my friend. I have better security than MSE. I have the Windows 7 firewall and it holds me in good stead. Third Party firewalls I have found to be a PITB.:) Use whatever rocks your boat.
  5. I would be finding out why you failed the leak test, Donetao.:)
  6. I have only ever run GRC leaktest and have no use for anything else.
  7. My suggestion regarding this type of program: Run it well BEFORE your warranty expires. Make sure you didn’t get a system with faulty components. Don’t experiment on an older system. If something is “marginal”, these programs WILL find them – often destructively! There is a slight risk involved.:) Thanks Donateo for the link. I stress test new builds and not had any issues. I noticed with the FurMark Graphics Card stress test the temp went from 30c to 78c in no time, so watch the temp carefully as it rises very quickly. These tests can be a good thing on a new build. I would be hesitant to run these tests on an old computer.:)
  8. Thanks for the heads up, Pete. I always try Bleeping first for specialized malware removal programs. Just a habit.
  9. I don't hate computers. They are a source of knowledge. OK they act up and I like to think I am up to the challenge. How bored one would be if they were perfect. Computers are a small part of my life, not my life. :) @donetao. Good Night.
  10. Good yours is not compromised. Hackers are getting pretty sophisticated. I have had GMAIL for some years and never been hacked. (touch wood) Many of my friends with Yahoo Mail have been hacked, some more than once.:)
  11. Hi Donateo . Information on what your friend should do here. http://www.hacked-email.com/what-to-do-if-your-gmail-account-gets-hacked/
  12. I am thinking PSU or Mobo at this stage if it's not possible to get into the bios. Presume you have swapped out the ram and cleared the Bios. Why was the computer brought to you, because it wouldn't do what?
  13. Is the keyboard actually alive. Any lights on the keyboard when you hit the Caps Lock key?.
  14. Hi Mike. On boot you only have round a two second window to get into the Bios. Sure your not missing it? Try constantly tapping the "Delete" Key from boot startup and see if it makes any difference.
  15. I never mentioned Kickstart, Rich.
  16. From what I have researched, Rich they allow you a given time to access your computer and pay up. After the deadline you are in trouble.
  17. Sorry. Wrong approach. Trying to jam your opinions down everyone's necks repeatedly can have a negative effect. By all means post your opinion once and we appreciate it.:)
  18. We don't encourage Registry Cleaners of any sort. Too many things can go wrong for the newby. Besides the sizes of Hard Drives now, it is not necessary. Was in the days of very small Hard Drives. " Everything" is all one needs.
  19. You can't get this into everyone's heads.Members have a choice and most are aware of the headaches if they don't. If they choose to take the risk, that's their choice. You have mentioned all this in another thread, why start a new thread?:)
  20. A number of these programs once run require a clean up afterwards. That's why in some cases I am hesitant to use them without supervision. I repair my friends computers and when they are badly infected I don't waste time and wipe and load. AT least this way they are not ringing up next day saying this or that is still not working properly.:)
  21. Thanks for your detailed reply Rich.If Hitman Pro works for you, that's great.:) I don't think pride comes into it if you are seriously wanting to make money. If you can't fix in 30 mins then Wipe and Load is the way to go. Often the registry has sustained damage from really bad infections. Who really is going to attempt to repair the registry.? Of course it's possible. With Wipe and load the computer runs faster and that's what the customer wants and notices. I often spend time at my computer shop in their repair room. They Wipe and Load after 15-20 mins is the infections can't be fixed in that time. @Donateo. I won't use Combo Fix without guidance from Starbuck, however that's just me. Reinstalls are so fast now, if I am bored I will reformat one of my computers to give it a new lease of life. Over time computers get slower and slower (registry entries) and that can't be avoided.:)
  22. I couldn't get rid of Hitman Pro quick enough after the first scan. I researched what it found and it's garbage. IMO. It has always been a snake oil program and still is. How long do you spend on a badly infected computer before you suggest a reformat?:)
  23. If you would like to try Nod32. You can trial Nod32 Antivirus free Trial for 30 days. Third one down. http://www.eset.com/au/download/home/ First scan takes ages so be patient.
  24. Nod 32 Antivirus is a paid for program made by ESET. Because it is protecting my system 24/7 real time, it's really only necessary to scan your system say once a month. Cindy runs Nod 32 and she swears by it like I do. If it finds malware it will stop the infection in it's tracks and notify you instantly.
  25. All I find is necessary to scan "services " If there is Malware it will show up under the Services scan. It is a brilliant piece of software and has fixed problems for me many times in the past. A must to have in your toolkit.:)
