  1. just clicki anywhere on the Metro (Start) screen and "search" comes up Mike. That is the quickest way to find anything but again I would add Vlc Player as it adds way more functionality.
  2. I always add VLC Player because it plays many things Media Player won't and avoids the need for Cyberlink and those other road hog nasty players. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
  3. Geez no one ever allows me to!
  4. Personally all those nag messages about updating addons is one of the reasons I left FF. I had the same experience where I kept doing Adobe Flash Player and something else and it refused to show it updated calling for it over and over again so I moved back to Chrome. I think Java did the same thing so if it works I would just ignore that.
  5. I would. I always used to add sound cards but then onboard got better. Lately I still can't find sound on onboard sound makes me happy but I always have a decent speaker system in use that can utilize a good sound card.
  6. The other thing you can do that will help is cut back startup by removing Adobe Reader, Sound cards, Microsoft Office if you have it leaving Av, Antimalware, 3rd party firewall if you use it, scanner, and remove everything else as 2/3 of what is in there is unnecessary most likely. "Run, msconfig, ok, startup" will get you there.
  7. Welcome aboard!!!
  8. 30 seconds here but I know I can eliminate a bit from startup....
  9. Many do N3. When I was in it Konica paper was the best lasting way longer than 10 years on the average and you could by Kodak and others graded for lasting affect in price. One thing I never did that many studios did was charge for a "coating" that supposedly would make the photos last longer but that was BS as it was the quality of the paper that made the difference.
  10. Windows versions are a lot more there also aren't they Dougie?
  11. Dougie is right as of 2013 Emsisoft uses their own Command line Scanner for Malware and Bit Defender for virus. You can install it for a trial version and when the time is up it will run as a free scanner, just without the real time protection.
  12. Actually it is "Auto Run" that changed in Windows 7, my bad. http://blogs.technet.com/b/srd/archive/2009/04/28/autorun-changes-in-windows-7.aspx
