  1. OH ok too bad they usually warranty everything for life.
  2. Good call Dougie! I knew that you can set it to come up all the time but I never saw the option to restore page anytime. That is another good reason to use FF.
  3. Dougie, you send it back and you can still do it. Just go to the crucial site here under Australia....there are phone numbers and ways to contact: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/company-warranty
  4. File Hippo and Major Geeks are the only third party sites I ever use for downloads.
  5. I am surprised at Crucial, they will usually take anything back as I have sent ram back many times. I just sent 2 sticks back today.
  6. Well can't help but be envious.
  7. Good luck to them, couldn't happen to nicer people. If it gets too involved Walmart will quit that as they cannot match the overhead of an Amazon. Walmart is not a discounter. They are a low end retailer selling junk and normal retails and no match for Amazon.
  8. I used to back in the early days of XP as I have a virtual graveyard of SoundBlaster audio cards that most likley wont work in Windows or 8.
  9. Good read Dougie, I have never had any use for Kingston or PNY, I should have "held my powder"! And I know better too. This Crucial drive I am now using is the first Ssd I bought and is running like a charm. The tweaking sure didn't help but I bet the drive sucks also as I have never had much good to say about PNY in the past anyway. The price ($89 for 240) bagged me and I know better.
  10. Well I should have my head examined, I had settled in with Ssd drives in both pcs I use the most and everything was running well. I am not quite sure where I read this but I think it was on the LinkedIn business owners forum about a marvelous tweak for Ssd drives called "tweak ssd". The hype about what it does really sounded good too. After a week or so I started getting freezes on most browsers and the unit with Windows 7 was taking forever to boot up. Then even normal open windows such as Control Panel began to freeze. I ran checkdisk and it made no difference. I removed some things from startup to no avail. Needless to say I looked to restore the most recent Macrium image file after System restore did nothing and the closest I had was August 5. So I restored it and at first things seemed ok, but then the same things started happening. So I began to believe the issue could be the bargain PNY 240 Gb drive so I restored the image file onto my older Crucial 128 Gb drive and all is well after I caught everything up. I suppose the only way I will know now is to install another system on that PNY drive http://www.totalidea.com/products/tweak-ssd/
  11. Again thanks for that Dougie.
  12. Thanks for Xonar I had never heard of those as I have been living with onboard soundcards for years and just decided to go back to using pci-x soundcards again. Asus has really grown.
  13. Thanks so much Dougie, I shall start using it!
  14. Dougie, does it show and allow removal of registry entries as Revo does?
  15. Ah I didn't know that thanks Cindy. Is it worth buying the Pro version? I love the program but with paid version is it portable (or is there a portable version of Pro) because if no it would be too difficult to use as I do.
  16. I had a very similar situation Dougie a while back but it was motherboard software that actually caused it and the funny thing is that I never chose that software either as I never run everything "suggested". The post is here somewhere and it had to do with motherboard software that was supposed to increase speed and did exactly the opposite. Catch is right though where sometimes we just need to take the solution and stop worrying about "the fix" when it is working well. I am going to try that Wise Uninstaller, thanks for mention, as I have noticed lately for some reason or other Revo does not show every program installed on a system and I am certain it used to. Things like MacAfee Security Scan and even AVG Antivirus did not show in Revo recently so I suspect there is probably more I might have been missing.
  17. Ususally its pretty close and no need to install anything to find out.
