What's worse that damn version doesn't use any of my addons as Last Pass, Wot and Mouse Gestures do not work on it its a gross mess. Is there anyway to uninstall that stupid thing it will kill my whole conversion. I guess I didn't have the problem in Windows 10 because I am not using Outlook there.

I am trying to get used to IE 11.0 and am using Outlook 2013. Unfortunately when you do that, it means that damn special version of IE opens whenever you click on an html link in Outlook and there is no way to close the thing I can see without Alt/Cont/Del ...now way to move forward and I can see no way to get the regular IE 11.0 to work. How does anyone deal with this stupid version of IE? Am I missing something as I just had to put default back to Chrome so I can move on in email it was taking me all night.

I actually saw it removing stuff on an infected computer the other day with Windows 8 and I got all excited!

I am not sure this version sucks Dougie and for the purposes of testing why not try it as supposedly it is Antivirus and Antispyware. I still have Mbam Pro running besides though and I always disabled it in Vista and Windows 7 as you do.

Windows 10 Tip: Customize the Start Menu

Right click "resize" but if you make them small then it hides the label so some small some "medium" so I can see what they are. -
Windows 10 Tip: Customize the Start Menu

OK I see how to add Control Panel, My PC and Network to the right side of Start Menu, just right click and go "Add to Start Menu"...I wish those boxes (tiles) could be smaller though. There has to be a way. -
Windows 10 Tip: Customize the Start Menu

Start menu is fine but I would not add tiles that would make this thing move real slow I would think. I just added My Pc, Network and Control Panel as I use these all the time from Start Menu and left the Tile mess alone. I may whittle that down a bit. -
I just happened to look at it and it was sitting on Sept 7 considering I installed this yesterday and it has been on about 3 hours that is a bit odd. BTW am actually Liking IE here and see no reason to include another browser though I like to have at least another in case of issues cropping up. I just cannot decide which one to use and it might well be Opera which I have not looked at for years..

Check out your Windows Defender folks as I noticed after 2 days mine had failed to update and was sitting over a month old in updates. I am hoping once I manually start it, it will continue on its own or that could be an issue going forward.

Well overall I find it fast and maneuverable and a great fix to Windows 8.1, so much so I may dump my Windows 8.1 All-in-One which runs like a wounded buffalo hunter freezing and stumbling from one issue to another, by far the worst OS this writer has ever seen. I cannot find a single browser that performs well consistently in Windows 8.1 but here other than for an occasional "IE must close due to imminent castration" which it then doesn't do anyway when you choose "ok", I see no IE issues and I find that especially unusual because I dump Bing for Google and load in LastPass, Mouse Gestures, Wot and Adblock Plus for starters (until I find the rest of my addons). I like the bright refreshing colors brought forward from Windows 8, transparent taskbar and the fact that single click is still available as I feared that would go next. I am using a socket 775 unit with a decent Core 2 Duo 6600 and 8 Gb ddr2 ram with an old Nvidia 8600 video card and this thing flies. I have yet to load many programs but with enough to run for now I see only 16 gb including Windows so that would initially appear a bit smaller than Windows Vista 7 and 8. I am using it the same way with third party Quick launch and Win Patrol for startup and registry control and it runs very well for a beat test as far as I am concerned. Overall I like this a lot and I was fully prepared to hate it!

I decided to add no other browsers here and force myself to run IE and am surprised 11 is here on this new version. am getting used to some new convoluted version of IE that will really screw up new OS but I am sure it will be along soon! I add LastPass, Mouse Gestures, WOT and Adblock Plus and so far only an occasional "IE is forced to close" which I am sure Adblock Plus causes but then the funny thing when you click "ok" to that it doesn't close anyway.

I just install Win Patrol and don't worry about the rest of this. I like the fact I can add Mbam to Delayed Startup in Win Patrol and anything else that drags down the actual startup goes into that. I also do away with the little hidden box on the task bar for icons and add all that are used to task bar which speeds up startup as well.

Windows 10 Tip: Customize the Start Menu (Part 2)
Rich-M replied to allheart55 Cindy E's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
A simple right click of taskbar, Properties, Start Menu and Customize then add in My Pc, Control Panel, Network etc and you have back a full Start Menu. I am happy to see "Free launch Bar" works here too to add a real "Quick launch" and then unpin all that silliness on the taskbar and we are right back to Windows 7 but a lot faster! I think I can like this. -
Issues Using Windows 10 Technical Preview
Rich-M replied to DSTM's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
So far I see it more as Windows 8 fixed and I must admit I like it a lot. It is way faster than any other version of Windows and with a few minor changes the Start Menu is bearbale (mainly adding in My Pc, Network and Control panel). -
IE is still primitive in password saving but I use Last Pass, the only problem as I said is in IE it has to be in startup whereas in FF and Chrome no. IE is also so "stiff" looking but no question there are sites that cannot use anything else and I suppose there always will be.
-
I hear ya....Last Pass will work on IE but it means I have to allow it in startup which I hate to do but maybe I will be forced to go back to it as these others are driving me crazy.

Windows 10 Tip: Customize the Start Menu (Part 2)
Rich-M replied to allheart55 Cindy E's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
Thanks for vote of confidence especially since you know how incredibly negative I am on this one before I even see it but you also know I will give it a fair shot anyway. I looked at start menu but then had to leave for dog park so I barely saw it. -
I am really getting frustrated. After isuue after issue with pdfs on Pale Moon I decided to go back to Chrome and while everything works well I am noticing something I never saw before that is becoming increasingly irritating. I notice on forums if I sit for more than 30 seconds on a post I cannot go back on my Dell All-in-One with Windows 8.1. At first I thought it was just a single issue but now I see it happens all the time where the only way I can leave a post if I don't respond quickly is to close and re-open the thread which makes it difficult to use "New Threads". Same thing is happening on my Windows 7 desktop and now I see it is not only forums as the same thing just happened to me on the Newegg site where I must have tried 10 times to go back. It doesn't matter if I go through the browser or use mouse gestures as nothing works. Save your breath as I can imagine I will hear the "IE Crowd" response here but IE is too primitive with saving passwords or utilizing any of the neat browser addons FF and Chrome have. I really hate Opera as well and I can see when you use an obscure browser you miss even more features. I just noticed another issue where I downloaded iso from Microsoft for Windows 10 on Chrome and could not burn the iso. I re downloaded using IE and am now successfully burning it.
