    Hello, after getting too many viruses on this EeePc 1001PX Netbook I am trying to do a recovery but not seeing an English language option and even now when I try to go back to the original windows 7 I am still getting the recovery screen to select the language, what can I do here please? I have a win7 disk with Home Premium but this netbook came with "Starter" edition.

    Cool, yeah I know hard shut downs should not be done, at least not on a regular basis, just every now and then I would need to save the windows I was working on, problem solved, thanks!

    Hey guys, I normally would have around 10 tabs or windows open on the net, now if I do a hard shut down at the end of the day, when I restart next morning I see the Restore option so I get all of those windows back, is there a way to have this restore session without hard shut down?

    This verizon fios router is under one year old so I am not sure that would be the issue?

    Hey guys, we had DSL for many years, I have a detached garage about 30' from the back of our house, I always used to get good enough wireless signal strength from my pc in the garage. Last year we upgraded to Verizon FIOS and the wireless was working ok since then but for a few months now I am only sometimes able to get to the net with the same pc. First thing I am thinking I need to do is to see if anyone is logging on to our network which may be causing the low signal strength? If yes, how can I do so please or what should I do to get back the to the net please?

    Oh sorry, I forgot to post here, when I disabled secure boot and chose legacy, all went well from there.

    Well, yes, I had originally installed 8 then "updated" to 8.1 so I am just wondering if I can revert back to 8?

    Oh BTW, if ever the need to downgrade back from 8.1 to 8, whats the safest way?

    Thanks, doing so now so I am guessing only win8 core [standard] did not come with the start menu?

    I am not seeing windows media player listed, also if I need to find a program like Paint, how can I find it?

    BTW Cindy, in win8 how do you find the Start and search All Programs as in win7 please?

    no, MPC does not show as an option in Autoplay, only WMP shows just it does not work for dvd, it works now for cd's.

    Yes, I tried that option a few times and rebooted each time

    Only a software disk auto starts, well opens and asks for your action. I installed Media Player Classic, it doesn't autoplay but works and plays fine when selecting cd's and dvd's and when you click on PLAY in MPC when playing a CD, WMP will auto open and play the cd.

    ok, after better following the instructions and after hitting ENTER it shows "The requested service has already started". I restart and pop in the dvd but still nothing.

    Doesn't work Cindy , I am getting this: "System error 5 has occured. access is denied"

    Also, next issue I am seeing is every time I start this pc I have to select the boot order all over again, it always reverts back to UEFI, how can I get the boot order to stick?

    So you're saying this all might be hard drive related?
