Yes Cindy, as normal procedure I always install the chipset driver first and restart. The driver identifier process led me to install the "Intel Centrino wireless-N 6150 driver, I tried a few from that page but it doesn't install. I am wondering if the wireless card in this laptop may be shot since the HDD was damaged too?

Yes, after trying with Parted magic, I attached to another win7 machine and the drive would not open.

If using any win7 disk, this possibly erase the drive? As mentioned I tried Parted Magic linux disk. I think best bet here would be the freezing option.

Hey guys, this person's Asus laptop running win7 developed a HDD problem and won't go to windows, he wants to recover some data on the drive, I used Parted Magic to access the drive but strangest thing, I am seeing the folder on the ROOT drive in parted magic but every folder showing is empty, it's as if someone deliberately emptied every folder. I tried attaching the drive as a slave to my machine, I can see the Disk F in My Computer but it doesn't open. The guy is asking me to create a partition on the drive to load an OS to try to recover the files that way, I told him if I partition the drive, that partition may overwrite some files so that's a risk but he is thinking of trying. Any recommendations please?

No it wasn't site specific which was what I had originally thought but now all of a sudden I am not seeing the errors anymore, maybe it just took a while for the the debugging options to take effect. Anyway, thanks for the that link and option, I will refer to it next time.

If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive. No issues with FF or Chrome, any ideas please?

The double pc icon shows but not with the "flowers". I want to see if there is a way to get this working again before going back to win7. I am suspecting the driver at fault because the dvd was also working perfect with win7 and now doesn't show as clear and I had to install codes for it work in the first place.

No bangs in DM Cindy. The Atheros driver shows as installed. Strangest thing though, this unit came originally with Vista, the owner had installed win7 and the wireless was working perfectly before vista was reinstalled so it shouldn't be the card at fault?

I reloaded Vista and updated, all drivers showed as installed except for the wireless network so I downloaded all 3 wireless network drivers from Acer's site: Only the Atheros installed but still does not work, the Device ID for the Atheros is: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_04281468&REV_01 help?
