1. Hi @allheart55 (Cindy E) I'm just saying that you will see less and less PC users asking for malware help on help forums like ours in the future. I keep a close watch on this subject. A scan with MBAM free or Adwcleaner will clean 95% of infected computers. I'm familiar with most of the tools used by malware fighters. I do not understand Farbar, nor do I want to take the time to learn. I hope I'm helping our members here not confusing them or leading them down the path to a blown PC!! I'm very interested in malware and how to clean it from computers. There comes a time when you just bite the bullet. You save your data and restore back to factory. I'm just hoping we have more good guys than bad guys out there!! A good back up plan will eliminate these problems. .
2. Hi Dougie! Please read post #6 Please show me where I'm saying any thing bad about our malware team here on Free PC Help Forum. I'm not trying to advise anyone not to use our malware section. Just the opposite post #6. I'm just having a fun discussing on line scanners and getting some good replies IMHO!! Learning new things and looking for more new things that might help me here at Golden Oaks. Mate!!
3. Hi @allheart55 (Cindy E) I have been on many help forums. PC users are asking for malware help less and less. They can go on the internet with their problems and get help. I'm not putting Pete or Gene down and I wish you would stop referring that I am!! Last time I checked we have 7000+ members and we are growing every day. How many of those are asking for malware help?? PC users are getting smarter and they are learning how to safe surf and use their brain as suggested by @lurkingatu2 They are also younger and smarter. @shortordercook 12 year old grand daughter got a better score on @Rich-M test than I did. My great grandson already knows about computers. He says Papa " Just hit CTRL-ALT-Delete!!:D
4. Hi! I would like to hear more about Hitman Pro @lurkingatu2 . I have used it once or twice. I wasn't that impressed!! It's not freeware! I need all the help I can get to help my seniors here at Golden Oaks.;);)
5. Hi Cindy! Did you read post #6??:D Read the red part!!
6. How about if we also keep it off and clean it off other computers for free! Does that make me a malware expert?? Maybe a semi expert!! What is a malware expert?? Some think they are experts and IMHO they aren't !! I'm not trying to put down anyone that has went through a year of Malware training and delicate there time freely to help members with infected PC's. I don't have the luxury of baby setting someone's PC while waiting for a malware fighter to answer a post in a couple of days when they find the time! Computer users are finding ways of cleaning up their PC"s and that's why you are seeing less people seeking help on forums like ours. How many have posted here needing malware help on Free PC Help Forum?? Are we still having fun??:D:help: Thanks for your reply Mate!!
7. Hi! I better add this about using these scanners. Always have your PC backed up before running these scanners. Your computer is called PC(Personal Computer). That means each computer is different and that means these scanners might react differently on your PC than they do on my PC. The best thing; if you don't know what your doing, is post in our malware section and let a trained person clean your infected PC. Most of the programs that are posted in this thread are used by trained malware fighters on all the help forums. If your not having any problems, don't run them. I only ran them to show you that I have a clean computer, which I will now create a back up image of my OS with Macrium Reflect!! Always trying to make a hand here on Free PC Help Forum. Thanks Boss for letting me be who I am! One huge Pest and a pain in the arse:D:eek:
8. Junkware Removal Tool (JRT) by Thisisu Version: 6.4.3 (03.01.2015:1) OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Ran by Gary on Wed 03/04/2015 at 10:16:39.12 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Services ~~~ Registry Values ~~~ Registry Keys ~~~ Files ~~~ Folders ~~~ Event Viewer Logs were cleared ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Scan was completed on Wed 03/04/2015 at 10:23:36.19 End of JRT log ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's a scan from JRT! It finds and removes a lot of baddies. The one baddie I really hate is Ask tool bar. As you can see, I have no baddies to remove. That's a good thing!! Here's link and what all it removes. It is really fast!! http://thisisudax.org/ PS It will clear all your Event Logs. Don't know why it does that, but to me that's a good thing. I'm still having fun @AWS Add your favorite on line scanner to this thread!! I'm sure everyone has their favorite. I have more, but will let this rest awhile! Seniors get the Ask tool bar a lot. Someone should stop that PUP company from existing. It's a real pain in the butt. Kind a like donetao! There will always be scum bags out there thinking of new ways to cause you grief, so surf safe and be careful what you click. Create regular back up images and you can enjoy your computer without worrying. I hope this helps someone!!
9. Hi Dougie! What are your favorite scanners??There are a ton of them out there!!;);)
10. Hi As promised! Here is the ESET scan. It took a long time. What do you think @DSTM , Do I know any thing about malware! Is ESET not your favorite Anti-Virus program Dougie?? Hey @AWS You said to have fun and enjoy myself. I'm having a ball on your forum Boss. Hey @allheart55 (Cindy E) special friend, thanks for caring about this old country boy. Hey @shortordercook Thanks for making my day. Hey all you members from MT, thanks for joining Free PC Help Forum. Invite all our friends to join us here on ExTs. Hey @starbuck(Pete) check me out friend. Do you think I'm clear of malware. Should be a good time to create a back up image of my OS with Macrium Reflect; don't you think. Hey @donetao quit being a smart arse, your skating on thin ice again!! Do I need to do any more scans Pete?? PS I'm not pouting any longer Cindy! Will scan with JRT tomorrow and add it to this thread. Thanks @AWS for letting me be who I really am! . Good night friends. Okie from Muskogee is going to bed!
11. Hi I like having a little fun Also. I did not not take the other test. Well I really did and I only got 88%. See if you can pass donetao's test. I ran Malwarebytes Anti Root Kit, Adwcleaner, and Malwarebytes I 'm going to run ESET on Line Scanner and JRT later and add the results to this thread. This is probably why I don't do well on help forums. I'm just a old country boy that hasn't been to any fancy schools except the School of Hard Knocks and I'm some times a smart arse! Here are my results Pete @starbuck . Is it a good time to create a back up image of my OS Pete. Adwcleanner found 0 malware as did the others scanners.
12. Hi ! I'm just answering you're replies friend. I'm not trying to rush you. You ask and I try my best to answer!
13. I have a fender strat that's worth 12 to 15 thousand! A little off topic, but you started it !! I guess the Boss will let us have a little fun!! :big_ha:
14. Not a problem! We all have senior moments. They are called brain farts!!
15. These are the system recovery tools in Windows. I don't understand where you are in this!! If you are having problems with windows, this is a good place to start. Start from the top and work your way down.;);) Start with start up repair( Run it at least 3 times) before moving down the list!! http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-are-system-recovery-options#what-are-system-recovery-options=windows-7
16. Hi @N3 There is a lot about this on Google. What Anti-Virus are you using?? This is one suggestion, but I'm not recommending going into the registry unless you are very sure you know what your doing there! I would follow Dougie's suggestion!! https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB81841&vse0714
17. Do you have administrator privileges???
18. Hi I wrote on your profile! Welcome to Free PC Help Forum, soon to me the number one help forum on the internet. It looks like we now have three Aussie's to just one Okie. I'm going to have to do some thing about that!!;);) :help:
19. No matter how fast or shiny computers might be when they're new, they all seem to get slower over time. That state-of-the-art PC you bought last year might not feel like such a screamer after you install a dozen programs, load it with antispyware and antivirus tools, and download untold amounts of junk from the Internet. The slowdown might happen so gradually that you hardly notice it, until one day you're trying to open a program or file and wonder, "What happened to my poor PC?" Whatever the cause, there are lots of ways to help speed up Windows and make your PC work better—even without upgrading your hardware. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/optimize-windows-better-performance#optimize-windows-better-performance=windows-7
20. Hi @shortordercook here's a good link to start with!!;);) This is especially for you!! This is for W7 but a lot of this works for other OS's http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/optimize-windows-better-performance#optimize-windows-better-performance=windows-7 No matter how fast or shiny computers might be when they're new, they all seem to get slower over time. 21. http://support.microsoft.com/gp/windows-update-issues/en-US You might let windows fix this problem for you!
22. Hi new member. You can also learn a lot from the Reliability Monitor. It will tell you which up dates failed and might give you a error code as @allheart55 (Cindy E) has suggested.;);) http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/investigate-problems-when-they-occur-with-windows-8s-reliability-monitor/
23. IMHO You should learn how do do back up images right here from members on this forum. Your presence has brought a lot of life to Free PC Help Forum. I'm glad you joined us. Free PC Help Forum is different than MT and a lot more friendly. There are several members here that will help you including myself. We don't have a lot of tutorials yet on Free PC Help Forum so I use ones I find on the web. Here's a good one to start with. As far as maintaining your new PC, members here will help you do that also. Don't get involved with snake oil programs. Windows has all the tools you need to maintain and keep it running like a Singer sewing machine.:D http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/7363/macrium-reflect-is-a-free-and-easy-to-use-backup-utility/
24. Not sure where I suggested recovery. I'm suggesting recovery mode, which is always a good place to start. If you make regular system back up images, you won't have to worry. Recovery mode, you just put the macrium recovery Cd in your disk drive and 15+ minutes your back just like the day you made that image! It's so easy to do! http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/7363/macrium-reflect-is-a-free-and-easy-to-use-backup-utility/
