Hi I have a very weired problem with my computer! It seems to be very slow when ever a windows update is available(before the download starts to sometime after it ends). It started off when I had windows 7 but carried on after I upgraded to windows 8. When my computer is running like it should it boots up in about 30 seconds and will respond to starting a program straight away. But when there is the problem the computer takes around 2 mins to start up and takes from 5 mins to 30 mins to start a program. I have recorded the dated for around 5 months( I upgraded to windows 8 in late 2012). These dates are: 27th - 28th November 2012 19th - 20th January 2013 5th, 17th - 18h and 25th Febuary 2013 18th and 26th March 2013 2nd - 3rd and 29th April 2013 I hope someone knows what is causing this because it is beyond me! Setting up some new Windows 7 PCs, we have installed retail version of Office Home & Business 2013 on the machines. I also have to install Publisher 2013 Retail version on 2 machines but when I try the install fails and it screws up the existing Office installation as well. I had to use the patch to uninstall and start again with the Office install. Any ideas of how to install Publisher in this scenario? View this thread

I followed some of these suggestions and found the following information under Task Manager: Memory 1013 MB Cached 553 Free 9 I keep removing programs but I find nothing else for removal. I noticed under the Performance &amp Tools that I have twice a reference to Explorer as one of the major space takers: iexplorer##1 with 523,436 KB and further down another one: explorer 277,956 KB I also have Google desktop as part of the top 10 space takers. Completely baffled with this. I have a Brother MFP990 all in one station. It is connected wirelessly to my network. I have a laptop connected wirelessly to the network and it prints fine. My office computer, however will not print to it, even though it seems to recognize it is there. The printer is communicating with myu computer and letting me know ink levels are low. My scanner is working perfectly and scans to the computer, no problem. But every time I try to print, the computer tells me the printer is offline. I tried disabling Norton firewall, no difference. I tried uninstalling the software, and oddly enough, during the uninstall process, an outstanding print request actually printed! When I reinstalled, same problem. Any Ideas??? View this thread

I was using goggle to search the Internet. After visiting a site call T-Nation, my next search with goggle changed and all of a sudden my queries are going through Conduit and secondly Bing. Hello After installing the early April 2013 Microsoft updates on my Vista Home Premium service pack 2 pc, it kept freezing and either rebooting or going to a blue screen saying unrecoverable hardware error. I system restored to prior the updates and my Norton 360 antiviurs software was in a mess. Norton support removed and reinstalled 360 and all was fine,. A couple of internet searches suggested this was a fairly widespread issue, so I continued to use the pc without the updates. I left it a week or so and intalled the updates again. Once again my pc froze and went to the blue screen. I system restored again, this time unchecking the Norton Tamper Protection box to stop the antivirus issue. All seems well again. So.........does anyone know what the issue is with the updates, is there a fix or workaround for this. Thanks View this thread

with the help of the Answer Desk Level 2, i just repaired my hp compaq presario pc, 512, 32 with windows vista home basic sp 2. while reinstalling MSE and its updates i froze up and upon reboot was able to change wupdates to let me chose which to install. as i know its only the beginning as only a handful did install initially, i want to determine which of the 130 important updates and subsequents are important to me to install. as i gained 4 GB in my C drive and wish to perserve as much as possible, i don't want to be forced to update things like the trial office i won't use. unfortuately they are not listed by date of release, they are mixed. How do i determine which to install and which to hide? i thought i'd do a few a day and try to observe changes to my programs and processes, but if i can do that, will i be able to uninstall unnecessary, or just hide the subsequents? and more urgently now, should i start say 5 from the top, or the bottom? any input greatly appreciated as i've been struggling with all of this for over 3 months now. Some time between 25th Nov. 2012 and 23rd Feb, 2013 my Optoma Digital Projector EX532 has stopped being able to find the source on any XP system. It works fine on Mac or Windows 7. I assume there has been an update that has altered something - maybe a driver. I have checked all settings and changed the VGA cord. Nothing. Hi, the latest free upgrade from Zone Alarm Firewall includes antivirus protection. They are saying this is compromising my MSE antivirus and to uninstall it - not had this problem before. I have been trying to see what updates my computer has been installing. It is a Dell N5030 running Windows 7 Home Premium. When i open the lid a message pops up in the notification area that says click to view updates that were installed, but as soon as I touch the keyboard or mouse that notification disappears. When I expand the notification bar the message is nowhere to be found and no indication of what was updated. View this thread
