I was linked to these forum by customer service when I mentioned I could not find a way to give feedback about Microsoft's "open with" search. Currently when trying to directly open .voc format files it says "Description: Windows does not recognize this file type." leaving me clueless as how to open it on other computers besides my own (the device came with a cd I lost). I had to search google for a while before I finally found comments leading to the answer which was http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads/?sku=VR5220. RCA's own softway seems to currently be the only way to open/play this type of file. I was hoping it would get added to the "open with" search to save others the trouble. View this thread

Hello, this is my first time posting, so I apologize if this is in the wrong place or if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I have a business client that runs mostly Windows 7 Pro x64 machines, and we have a WSUS server set up to manage their updates. The client computers are set through Group Policy to automatically download updates but notify for install. However, one of the principals at this company is claiming that no one is (or at least multiple people are not) receiving the balloon notification that tells you there are new updates available. Everything looks in order in group policy, no GPOs should be disabling the notifications, and when I go log on to certain computers to have a look at them, the notification does come up. So it looks like it's working, but I'm not sure what to tell my client or how I should proceed, save for going to every computer, rebooting it and seeing if it shows the notification when I log on, since that seems to be the most reliable way to get it to appear. So, before I go and do something like that, what I want to know is, on what sort of schedule does Windows 7 pop up the new update notification? What I'm wondering is if maybe it only notifies you upon logon or something, which might explain why some people would not see it: if they aren't logging off/shutting down/locking their PC at the end of the day, which I know some don't. However I'm not certain of this, and if Windows should be notifying you periodically no matter what, then it would seem I have some kind of problem that needs to be resolved. View this thread

Hey everyone, I wanted to give you an update on things since we have been a little quiet on the Windows Server Blog over the last couple of months. Clearly, we are in the down section of the blog cycle. Once the BIG Stories about Windows Server 2012 have been told, the technology teams pick up the slack and start getting into the nitty gritty of designing, building, deploying and supporting the Modern Data Center. Speaking of a technology team picking up the slack.... Almost 3 years ago we launched the Private Cloud Architecture Blog. At the time it was pretty heavy on theory and pretty light on details. Over the last year the blog really picked up momentum and started getting much more detailed into what we mean by building a private cloud. Now, that Windows Server 2012[/b] and System Center 2012 Sp1[/b] are generally available, the balance seriously has shifted to a pretty heavy load of detailed content on building a Modern Data Center. Earlier this month, we merged the Private Cloud Blog with a newly launched blog called Building Clouds. So, now we have two blogging teams extending our charter from talking just about Private Clouds to talking about Building Clouds whether that involves an all on-premise deployment, Hybrid IT deployment or an all Hosted or Cloud Deployment. We've brought together some of the brightest people across engineering and the field to bring you the latest and up to date thinking on how you can best leverage the Cloud OS and System Center to continue to move your Data Center towards a more robust Cloud Architecture. I encourage you to put the on your short list of blogs to read. This team has been on fire since the merger and the amount of valuable content has been quite amazing to take in. Hello, In the past 4 days, two updates have been repeatedly recurring in Windows Update on my laptop. The two updates that keep recurring are: - KB2656351: Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28570 - KB2600071: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Reliability Update 2 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28936 I’ve checked back in my Windows Update history and over the past 4 days (4/12/2013 up until now, 4/16/2013) it says both of these updates were installed “successfully” 15 times each. I’ve googled this issue and got hits at this Community: - Two updates KB2656351 and KB2600217 are repeatedly re-offering to - Microsoft Communityhttp://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/two-updates-kb2656351-and-kb2600217-are-repeatedly/f155de82-3976-4c15-a878-58dff4c2b9b7 - Windows updates KB2656251 & KB2600217 keep installing but then - Microsoft Communityhttp://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/windows-updates-kb2656251-kb2600217-keep/48fc8fcc-8a1e-4c39-9f8a-ecbd7e37be6f These are the suggested solutions I‘ve tried which have all proven to be not working: - Downloading the updates through the above mentioned links and installing them manually. - Microsoft Fixit. I tried several links, which all provided different executables. I don’t know if it’s helpful, but here are their names: MicrosoftFixit.wu.LB.37289439780134050.2.1.Run.exeMicrosoftFixit.wu.LB.38289570954353808.2.1.Run.exeMicrosoftFixit.wu.RNP.38289472762370635.1.1.Run.exe(I‘m guessing wu stands for Windows Update) - Removing the downloaded install fileshttp://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-windows_update/windows-update-keeps-downloading-the-same-update/fb2b4421-f48f-4294-9eb5-4503a6b4408c Please help! There is a pop up on my computer after I close Enternet Explorer. In the address bar it says serve.bannersdontwork.com I understand that it's a malware. How do I remove it using my MS Security Essentials? I read that SpyHuneter 4 is doing a good job removing malware. Can I install SpyHunter on my computer as well? Will it be in comflict with MS Security Essentials? I appreciate any help you can give. View this thread

Vista has suddenly become unusable. it is taking up to an hour to load up and then keeps freezing. I have not added any hardware or any software to the computer, this just started happening. I have run checks for the memory and used the repair utility but nothing cures the problem. It has also lost all of the restore points so I cannot use this to restore to an earlier time. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. View this thread

Whenever - I get notice that new updates are available or - I start Windows Update on my own it always takes so endlessly long, although I have a normal internet connection. Therefore, when I try using a new USB Stick that has to download the appropriate driver it takes long and finally end in the USB Stick not being recognised by my PC. Sometimes the updates for Windows only appear on shutting down the PC. All other download (files, videoas etc.) work perfectily. Who knows an answer to this dilemma? Jean-Claude View this thread

Windows updates fail with Error Code: 0x80246008. Windows troubleshooter fails to start! Following things back as far as I'm able it seems that I lack .net framework 2 but that won't install either. I'm only an enthusiastic amateur here and I've no idea what has caused whatever has gone wrong. The PC is running XP sp3 and while's it's old it's fine apart from the lack of updates. Any help, ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks, View this thread

I have been getting calls from "unknown caller - unknown number" re PARASITES, TROJAN HORSES, VIRUSES and MALWARE on my computer being reported to a Microsoft Technical site. Their solution is to have me allow them to logon and fix my severlly damaged computer. They say Microsoft virsus scans, AVG virus scans and CCleaner scans, which show no problems, are unable to detect the problems they see and can fix. How legit are they? View this thread

I have tried the Skype Community but have received no help although my help message has been viewed. View this thread
