This has happened ever since I got my laptop. I noticed that my windows 7 uses above 1.55GB just idling. I mean im doing nothing! Right now it uses a little bit more because I have a few programs that start up such as SugarSync(cloud storage) and lightscreen(for taking multiple screenshots without having to save them manually.) Right now those programs are using 14,864 K (lightscreen) and 27,192 K (SugarSync). I like speed so I have disabled many programs for startup in msconfig. These consist of Adobe reader, Apple Push, Facebook update, Google update, GoogleDrive, Hp Quick Launch, Hp QuickWeb, iTunes, Logitech Download Assistant, SansaDispatch, HP LaunchBox, Skype, Steam, and Microsoft OneNote. So I have very few programs that I kept up. My virus protection is Kaspersky. The reason I bring this up is that I need the RAM because I sometimes run a minecraft server and minecraft client with a few other programs on such as Skype and internet explorer(by the way I switched from chome to IE10 because I love the metro look and how it performs.) The thing that bugs me is that when I look at another windows 7 computer or my friends windows 7 computer they all use about 1.2GB of RAM or less. How come mine uses so much? Is there a way to have Windows 7 use less RAM? My specs are: Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) 6GB RAM AMD A8 3520M APU with HD Radeon Graphics with 1.60GHz I bout this laptop about a year ago. EDIT: This just happened a few minutes after I posted this and it has never happened to me before. I was browsing on a tech news website when all of a sudden my computer made a medium *BOOP* sound. the mouse started to lag then stopped all together. The fan got louder and louder and I couldn't do anything. I had to force restart and now all seems fine. Any ideas on what that was? View the thread

it says I need a disc to install an update to windows office xp service pack 3. Why? When I bought my laptop, everything was pre-loaded. I've been trying to take that download for about a month and keep getting the error code 0x8024002D. View this thread

Hi, I am using a very slow broadband connection of 1 Mbps. When there are say 12 updates of 172MB for download and install at the Window Update Shortcut, it takes more than two hours to download and install but this process never complete after this period. The percentage of completion always stuck at 12% only. I never face this problem when using Win 7 (Pro), the Window update download and installation is completed almost instantly. May I know how to trouble shoot and fix this problem? Thanks Low View this thread

My Windows 7 is activated, but is not genuine?
AWS posted a topic in Microsoft Support & Discussions
Hi everyone! So my Sony Vaio laptop HDD took a dump on me, I bought a new 750 Hitachi HDD and downloaded a Windows 7 .iso file from digitalriver (My laptop never came with a hard copy of Windows) and installed it just fine. Everything was running smooth for a day or so, all microsoft updates installed along with MSE. The problem happened once I activated Windows using the product key sticker on the bottom of my laptop. I activated by phone, no problems. The next day I got a popup saying windows is not a genuine copy, so I went to the support page and tried installing the Genuine Windows browser tool and kept getting a failure. After reading posts from users with similiar problems I ran the diagnostics tool. Here are the results: I do not know how to decipher this so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated! My Sony VAIO will not UPDATE, Please help me! I am extremely novice and don't know much, but I know that Windows Update, VAIO update, and Microsoft security essentials SHOULD automatically update, or at least update when I ask it to nicely! Every time I shut down there are about 75 and multiplying updates that wont install. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am on an extremely low budget or I would have taken it in to a shop by now. I really like my VAIO. Except for this problem, it has been trouble free for 3 years now. HELP?... anyone...?...ANYONE...???...Please...?... ... ... View this thread

I'm running Windows XP 32-bit. After a Windows Update during the week of April 8, 2013, my monitor wasn't looking right. My nVidia icon in the taskbar disappeared. I went to Control Panel to launch the nVidia control panel, and got an error message about the display driver not being compatible. I re-installed the display driver from the product CD, and all was well . . . until another Windows Update. Seems that the update is replacing the driver with something else? What up with that, dude? how do you fully get rid of 'sendori', I removed all instances of it from registry with regedit & deleted associated folders but these winsocklsp files remain & even Hijackthis! won't delete them. Also tried Kasperky ssdk rootkit killer & several malware removers like spybot to no avail. Trying to avoid having to reinstall windows. TY 4 your time. View this thread
