Yes, we have. your limited experience in your small space of the planet
does not come close to what the masses experience.

Maybe in a Ubunto Usenet Group we might care about Ubuntu, but this is a
vista group, so we care about what Vista supports.

You're forgetting the research I have done.

Epson I don't think is a problem. The driver list for Epson is very
extensive. Have no personal experience with those though.

Brother I've never encountered a problem with either. I've used a few
Brother printers and they so far have always worked quite nicely.

Well see the thing of it is this. It also matters a lot *when* you tried
it. The list of supported hardware does expand very rapidly from release
to release where it is possible. Definitely at a much faster pace than
new hardware is released.

For instance, previous version (7.10) didn't support the USB->Serial
cable from radioshack I bought. It supported plenty of other cables, just
not *that* particular one. The issue ended up just being a missing
Product/Vendor ID in the usb driver which was easily enough fixed. For me
anyway, I realize that'd be beyond the scope of any normal user.

So after I went to fix it, I reported the fix to the linux kernel list to
have it included. I was too late. The upcoming release of the kernel now
used in Ubuntu 8.04 already had support for that device.

Only thing I'm trying to get at is that hardware support improves
significantly every released. What's not supported one release very well
may be supported the next release.

The only problem areas are primarily just areas such as Broadcom and when
it comes to printers Canon. Neither manufacturer bothers to write drivers
for Linux and you know what? That's actually not even the problem!
Neither one of them would have to! There are plenty of developers who
would be willing to develop linux drivers for their devices at no cost if
the companies would simply give them the documentation necessary to do so
and with a signed NDA if required. It wouldn't even have to be open
source.

But manufacturers like Canon and Broadcom still refuse.

Research, hell, you were claiming things about Vista before you even had
a copy, before you even installed it, and you do the same about many
things.

Face it, you have limited experience, limited resources, and you're just
shouting the Anti-MS rant that your type does, without any sense of
credibility.

Vista makes it as easy to use printers/scanner and combo devices as does
Linux/Ubuntu, but Vista has better support in the market from vendors
than does Ubuntu/Linux.

Now, go read the HUNDREDS of printers that listed and STFU!

There are even some for your precious Canon:

Charming. Does Vista do this to you or did your mama raise you to post
this way?

Go to the UBUNTU support forums and read the problems people are having
with printers there, take your own advice little boy - STFU.

Didn't read the list, eh? To which forum are you referring? The Usenet
group doesn't have any printer problems being discussed. Fact is if you
do research before buying a printer, you will have a printer that works.
The same is true for Vista.

They have an online community forum, if you were not so dishonest you
would know that.

Their web forums does - you can check yourself.

Good of you to finally state something true.

1) Printer support under Vista is better than Ubuntu when you consider
more than just a few vendors - if you consider the majority of vendors
then Vista has more support.

2) Most Big-Box stores do not carry inexpensive (under $100) printers
that are supported by Linux, at this time.

3) Supported printers on either platform are no harder to install than
the other platform.
