Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5303 network drivers?
allheart55 Cindy E replied to mikehende's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
This is the option that you would choose.... 0x2062 Qualcomm Atheros AR8152/8158 0x1969 Atheros Communications I always input the vendor number and the device number to find the correct driver but it's not fool proof, Mike. -
Dell Studio laptop overheating?
allheart55 Cindy E replied to mikehende's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
That's hard drive failure, Mike. I wouldn't waste any more time on testing it. Instead, I would pull off anything the owner wishes to keep while you are still able. Continuing to run the test will place more unneeded stress on the drive. -

Microsoft is releasing a preview of its Internet Explorer successor, Project Spartan, today. The new browser, which will be the default web experience in Windows 10, is part of an update to the PC Windows 10 preview. Microsoft promised faster builds for testers, and it’s delivering on that promise today. After less than two weeks, Windows 10 testers can now download a new build (10049)that will include the Project Spartan browser. If you’re already running a preview version of Windows 10 then it’s available immediately from Windows Update, otherwise you can join the Windows Insider program to test Project Spartan and Windows 10. While Microsoft demonstrated a variety of Project Spartan features back in January, not all of them are enabled in today’s preview. Cortana, Microsoft’s digital assistant, is included with features like contextually aware suggestions, and assistance for weather or stocks information. While Cortana is present, calendar and flight information won’t be available as part of today’s preview, and the digital assistant is limited to the US for now in Project Spartan. Similarly, an updated Reading View mode is available in the Spartan preview, but roaming across devices and saving offline aren’t available just yet. Both features are planned for the final version of Windows 10 and Project Spartan which will ship in the summer. You can draw straight on web pages with Project Spartan One of Spartan’s more impressive features is the ability to annotate notes with a pen. While recently leaked builds of Spartan didn’t feature this, today’s preview will include this new Web Notes function. You can write or type directly on to a webpage, and share the comments through email, social networks, or through OneDrive. Microsoft even supports OneNote too, for easy clipping of web pages and inking comments or notes on them. The wait is over. Microsoft has been teasing the capabilities of Project Spartan for months. Those that have held their breath with news of each new Build release can finally exhale. Today, Microsoft is rolling out a brand new Windows 10 build to Fast Ring Windows Insiders, build 10049. And, this one is all about Project Spartan. There are some fixes for known issues and some improvements, but the primary reason this new build is releasing so quickly after build 10041 is so Windows Insiders can finally get a chance to test the browser Microsoft is pinning its web future on. Build 10049 is propagating now and should be available everywhere within the next hour or so. Read more on the Windows 10 Technical Preview "Project Spartan' site: http://devchannel.modern.ie/techpreview/1503 Project Spartan allows you to write or type directly on web pages, touts distraction-free reading, and integration with Cortana to make recommendations on-the-fly. Windows 10, of course, will ship with two browsers: Project Spartan and Internet Explorer. Microsoft hopes, I'm sure, that Project Spartan will be the browser of choice, but for the short term, Internet Explorer will be provided to assure web compatibility for businesses. Today's new Build comes with its own set of gotchas, which is common for a Technical Preview (read: beta software). Microsoft has already provided the things to watch out for in an accompanying blog post. Those are: After logging in, you may see a blue screen instead of your desktop. To work around this issue, lock your PC (with the hardware button or by pressing the Windows Key + L) and try logging in again. You can also try Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Indexing of new email in Outlook is not working, so search results will be limited to when the last index was built. If you have Virtual Machines hosted on your PC running Windows 10, you will want to move to the Slow ring and wait for the next build as this build breaks the ability to run VMs. There are 2 issues using Visual Studio 2015 preview on this build: The emulators will not boot and you won’t be able to deploy a Windows Universal app to the Mobile emulator. The XAML designer in VS and Blend will crash when opened. If you are a developer using these tools today to develop Windows Universal apps and need this functionality to work – we recommend switching to the Slow ring until we release a patch to fix these issues. It looks as if you need the ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities, Mike. You'll find it under the Utilities tab. http://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/342/0/1/NfIUlTRsPzAfvAA1/30/ -
We heard a couple of weeks ago from Microsoft's Terry Myerson that Windows 10 would be released this summer, which depending on how you define summer, could be anytime between 21 June and 23 September which are the official dates of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. However, is that a realistic goal and can Microsoft make it? Currently we are on build 10041 of the Windows 10 Technical Preview and this is only the second public test release for 2015 and the fourth overall on the desktop side. When it comes to Windows Phone there has been only one public release for a limited number of handsets. Recent news from Microsoft indicates that list is about to expand to over 20 handsets with a new build expected as early as next week. Based on your own experience with the technical preview of Windows 10 on either platform do you think a summer release is realistic at this point? If you believe there is the potential for Microsoft to hit this summer release then be sure to comment and let us know what that would take on their part.
