  1. Thanks! I am trying to download and create bootable disks of the 4 versions of win10, in this link there is an all in one version: http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-10-all-in-one-multiple-editions-iso-download/ but after downloading the ISO when I try to create the dvd it shows "not enough space on the disk", the dvd size is 4.7 GB so which disk would I need, a dual layer?
  2. So I am not understanding in which scenario one would need to pay $199? Windows 10 will be available as a free upgrade starting July 29. But that free upgrade is good only for one year as of that date. Once that first year is over, a copy of Windows 10 Home will run you $119, while Windows 10 Pro will cost $199. And for those who want to upgrade from the Home edition to the Pro edition, a Windows 10 Pro Pack will cost $99.
  3. Hey guys, thanks for the info, sorry I did not get the notifs about these posts. I am currently creating bootable disks with the 4 versions and only thing I am confused with is if someone has win7 Home and wishes to upgrade to win10 Pro, how much would they need to pay, $199?
  4. Geez, I had selected win7 but did not select the Update, sorry but thanks for clarifying.
  5. I got it cindy, it was this: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53501-54000/sp53753.exe Thanks!
  6. Thanks Cindy but when I visit any of those links I am seeing: No software or drivers are available for this product with the selected operating system. Please make a different selection, or visit the product homepage.
  7. Hey guys I am having some trouble getting the network controller driver for an HP Pavilion G4-1117dx, the ones on their site does not work and I tried going via the PCI Database but the driver won't open, help please? PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_1629103C&REV_01
  8. This person is not online but local, I did not want her to bring her unit here if I would not be able to help her situation but thanks for explaining, now I know.
  9. Hey Pete, no I don't know her but she just called and said "hp got it sorted out" so that's that. I would like to ask thought just for the knowledge, why using a password crack software would be against any rules?
  10. Hi Pete, someone was downloading a microsoft app when the laptop started doing some strange stuff so now she can't log to windows as the system is not accepting her password and since she has a lot of softwares on the machine she doesn't want to reload the OS. I am guessing this is a virus situation but before I should have her bring her machine here, I would like to know what course of action I can take here. My first guess was to try a password crack software but if it's virus activity I am not sure it would work, any ideas please?
  11. In my little experience, product keys are version specific if that is the question you are asking.
  12. geez I don't know why they make things so complicated, I have 3 sets of disks: win8 standard, win8 Pro and win8.1 pro and this is the 2nd time I have come across this issue, the version on this unit is "8.1 Standard", the one I don't have so I will have no choice but to order the recovery disk from HP?
  13. Oh yes, sorry for not having explained this situation properly. When the owner brought this to me last night, on power on, it showed "Hard Disk error", I tried to run the unit's HDD Diagnostics but it showed "No Hdd installed", I then replced the HDD with one of my own and it shows "No boot device" so that suggests to me that the HDD is dead so anything I would need to do to get the version has to be done outside of windows.
  14. Hey guys, I am working on an hp touchsmart m6 k125 dx laptop system ID 190E Product ID EOK48UA#ABA I tried researching the above info online but nothing, I have various win8 versions but how do I know which one is on here or how would be best to proceed please? I need to replace the HDD.
  15. The guy did not bring his machine to me pete, he was simply trying to see if there is a way to recover the missing files.
  16. I had advised the owner to try that so it's up to him.
  17. That's what I figured so no hope for this guy I think to recover those missing files.
  18. I am wondering if he did a system restore would that restore deleted files?
  19. No, not the missing data icons, just osme other icons which were there before, he did not specify exactly which icons are there.
  20. He says there some icons
  21. I don't have the guy's unit, he just called in to make the inquiry, thing is he wants to recover the files more than he wants to fix the unit so if the files are nowhere to be found on the unit then wouldn't make sense I ask him to bring it in.
  22. He said he didn't do anything out of the norm and suspects virus
  23. Guy with a laptop says all of his pics and music which he had on his desktop suddenly vanished, they are not in the recycle bin and since he did not delete them, any ideas please?
  24. Yes thanks Pete! Ok guys to sum up, if I wish to install win10 on anyone's machine, it must be currently running win7 or 8 and they should know that win10 will only for for them for one year after which time they will need to purchase, if this is correct then I am still confused on how to actually get the win10 once someone drops off their machine here?
