  1. So sorry guys, I am only now seeing these last 2 posts. Thanks for the help with the notifs issue Cindy and thanks for the link Pete.
  2. Yes Cindy, pressing the shift works, thanks a million! Wish I would know what causes this but satisfied with the solution.
  3. Regular KB Cindy. No I haven't tried pressing the shift key to go back to lower case letters, will try that next time it happens and will let you know. Do you have sticky keys enabled? No Appreciate the help, get back to you, thanks.
  4. Hey guys, every now and then while typing the caps lock button will work the opposite and I will need to restart windows to correct this, I am guessing that I am accidentally hitting some key my mistake that's causing this so what I am seeking is way to correct this whenever it happens without having to restart windows, any ideas please?
  5. Yes Cindy, looks like that did the trick, thanks!
  6. I use only FF for browsing, I am not seeing those options, I found this on the net, would this be a better fix for FF? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-script
  7. Yeah, the email notifs from this site doesn't work anymore, at least for me but thanks for the reply.
  8. Hey guys, lately I have been getting scripting prompts when visiting this site which I frequently subscribe to: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/ and whenever that happens it greatly slows down my pc, seems like just having that site open locks down my pc, what's the best way I can handle this problem please?
  9. The owner will be using this laptop only for music and does not wish to connect to the net to prevent any virus issues so whenever he should need the net he will simply use the wired connection or he can always purchase an adapter so I will leave as-is for that reason, thanks.
  10. I don't expect you to be every time cindy, always glad to hear from you. On the sticker beneath it doesn't show any other digit except for dv3500 so I chose the first option which was "Pavilion dv3500ea Entertianment" and belarc shows what the attached image shows
  11. The windows update started working now it's only the wireless issue, I am thinking the internal wireless car may be shot?
  12. Running Vista, I did an OS recovery on this machine but 2 problems, first it showed that the "wireless switch is not turned on" but according to my research there isn't a physical switch but rather this pertains to the wireless software but looking in the DM as the attached pic shows the wireless software is there? I tried installing both the Broadcom and Intel Pro wireless drivers from their site here below but that doesn't help: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv3500-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/3774492/model/3812228#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1 Other issue is as 2nd attached screenshot shows I can't get windows update to run, help please?
  13. Hey guys just checking to see if vipre is now a better choice according to this: http://www.pcantivirusreviews.com/Comparison/Editors-Choice-2016.html?avrtsid=2
  14. I don't expect that I will like anything better than win7 but you never know, I will at least give it a shot soon.
  15. Thanks for that report Nev, strange this was going to be my next question, how does win10 stack up to win7, meaning which do you guys prefer?
  16. Well I am now seeing a notice when I open the win10 icon stating "Unfortunately this pc is unable to run windows 10" and the compatibility issue shows Nvidia GeForce...The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with windows 10. Check with the Manufacturer for support. Any ideas what to do here please? This suggests to me that not every win7 machine will be able to run win10? Also, if someone wants you to upgrade to win10 and since no one will know how long it will take for the upgrade to show on their pc, how do you go about this, do you tell them to click the icon and reserve win10 and whenever they get the notification that it's ready then they bring their machine to you?
  17. Ok, last question on this for now please, how will the user know the the pc is ready for win10, would you need to click on the win10 icon everyday or will there be a popup?
  18. Oh but that's the correct procedure right, that you have to choose the reserve option? Also does win10 installer over win7 so you won't lose any files or softwares?
  19. Thanks. The win10 icon is there now cindy but way I see it only option is to "reserve the upgrade" so I did and it is showing that "it can take a few days or weeks" and you will be notified when it's ready. I had thought with the icon there it would be immediately available?
  20. Oh, I had misunderstood what I was reading, I had thought one would need to pay for it at the end of that trial, can you point me to any resource online where I can show this info to potential clients please? Also, when i started this pc in question this morning, it started installing 208 updates so you were right, so now let's wait and see if the win10 update will be there.
  21. BTW, if a user tries the free upgrade for one year then decides not to purchase, any idea on how it would work to go back to their original OS, would the user need to hire a tech to do this?
  22. Oh shoot, I did not see your reply and to shut down to work on another pc, this is another HP almost identical pc running win7 Home Premium SP1 which I had replaced the HDD and reloaded win7 and the get win10 icon is there in the taskbar, not fair huh? Anyway I took screenshots of the taskbar properties, when the owner leaves with this one in a while I will go back to the pc we are working on and use the same settings to see what happens, get back to you in another hour or so.
  23. I don't see an option to stop the updates, should I go to task manager, stop the updates then reboot?
  24. Well it's still checking for updates but since the owner hasn't called me yet I will leave it as is until then.
