  1. It will be if you can keep away from Floozy websites.:big_ha:
  2. Hi Peterr. Work your way slowly through these requests and see if we can't fix this flicker issue. These are the voltage numbers I would like to see on your Speccy. Expand Motherboard This says you only have 4 ram slots. I am confused at the moment till this is cleared up. We need exact wording for motherboard in Speccy. Screen shot will do. In Speccy under "Graphics" is your card recognized or does it list "on board Graphics" ?
  3. Hi Peterr. I googled the specs for your system and said it takes 8gigs 1333 DDR3 ram. Is it possible to give me the numbers off your motherboard with Speccy, Please. The image under specs I saw only had 4 slots in total. You say yours has 6 slots. Also could you open Speccy and in the centre column click on motherboard and expand. What does it say for your 3.3v 5v and 12v readings. This will give us an indication of condition of your Power Supply Peterr. Can you as an experiment install Firefox and install Java and see if the flicker remains. Also Adobe Flash Player for Firefox browser.
  4. Hi Peterr. Further to the good advice from Starbuck. I doubt it is your monitor. You say you have 6 x1gig sticks of ram. Can you post what is written on each stick, Please. I would change the cable to your Monitor to experiment. I would disconnect the printer and any other periferals while testing. Are you relying on a driver updater? Norton and McAfee need to be removed completely. Use the Internet explorer browser while testing and see if issue persists. I doubt it is the video card if correct drivers are installed. Try each I have listed and post results of any changes.
  5. Wonder who the brainchild was that designed the new Malwarebytes Icon. Looks like something out of Batman. I don't like it that much. I thought they could be more original than that. I am just in a bitchy mood.
  6. I think they will concentrate on Companies and big business mostly as the BITCOIN rewards are far greater. Unless you have a cloned copy of your OS on another Drive disconnected, then you are in deep **** if they hit you. You can advise members to back up till your blue in the face and most don't listen.
  7. This Guy managed to install Windows7 on this old laptop and the Vista drivers worked. The story behind this Laptop is his Daughter has a Mac and can't install Office Publisher on it. She needs Publisher for templates for her home business so she gave him a new copy of Office to install on this old Laptop for her. I have invited this guy to join Free PC Help Forum which he will and we can help him with any further issues with his other Computers and Wife's Laptop as well. His name is Mike Cook.
  8. Thanks for your advice. I will be talking with him tomorrow.
  9. Thanks Bill and Cindy. He said he can install XP again,if a no go. So worth a shot as you say. I wasn't sure 100% about the Vista drivers.
  10. A friend of mine in another state here wants to put Windows 7 on an old Dell Vostro 1000. There are no drivers listed for Windows7. Anyone know whether Vista drivers may work with a Windows7 install?
  11. So many diff models. My wife said on hers turn it on. 2nd button from right says "Shop in Kindle store" If you can log onto Amazon you have Internet access. You have to have an account and password. Buttons on right hand side of kindle should help you get to the next page of items installed. I know nothing about Kindles, Tony.
  12. This only affects people who have not been on the Internet with their Kindle since October 2015. That's how I am reading it.
  13. When my Wife wakes I will alert her. Her Kindle is about 5 yrs old. Thanks for the heads up, Cindy.
  14. Had to post this one. So cute.
  15. Not a joke but thought worth posting.
  16. Faith Restored in Humanity.
  17. Some years since I used JV16 Power Tools. If I remember it was free then. Can't remember why I gave it the flick. I use CCleaner now.
  18. It had to happen eventually.:big_ha:
  19. Appreciate the feed back. The computer is going like a train at the moment. I will log any issues that arise but quietly confident there won't be many. None I can't handle anyway.:)
  20. I decided to do a fresh install of Windows7 Ultimate. This time I am going to see just how important Windows Updates really are and keep a Diary of what eventuates over time using this Rig daily looking for issues. I turned Windows Updates off on install, installed drivers and tweaked to my liking. I have a custom install of Avast, Malwarebytes free and S.A.S. I plan to run ADW Cleaner weekly on this Rig. I will use File Hippo for anything I need. So far from FileHippo I have installed 3 needed additions which are .Net Framework 4.5, IE11 and SP1. I think this will be an interesting exercise. There are so many updates which take forever and when all the updates are installed my computers run slower immediately. So here goes. Not advising anyone to try this. Any Thoughts I would be interested in hearing.:) Don't tell me I am nuts,Pete. I already know.
  21. I use Macrium Reflect Free and looks like the latest version has GPT support. http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
  22. I wasn't sure at first what "MFT corrupt" and "Volume Bitmap incorrect" was so I asked Cindy and she explained to me, and said run CHKDSK. Thanks Cindy.:)
  23. I am having issues with an older Intel SSD. This is where I am up to. This is the second SSD in as many days giving me grief. The other SSD issue was posted on another site. I should have posted it here on Free PC Help Forum. I tried to clone this SSD drive onto another spinner. A WD Blue. Wouldn't clone. Gave me an error "MFT corrupt- Error Code 6". First I used "DUMo" for a diagnostic. Results said SSD was bad, likely to fail, export all onto another drive quickly. Next I used Intel's own diagostic and came back all good with green tick. Where to go from here so I run CHKDSK C: only to find any issues with this drive. Results Volume Bitmap is incorrect. Then run CHKDSK C: /r Results Failed to repair Then run CHKDSK C: / f Results Clean bill of health. It is obvious Intel's own diagnostic can't be trusted. My thoughts this Intel SSD is too risky to have an OS on and should be turfed. (Out of warranty) In this case "DUMo" got it right and Intel got it wrong. Most techies say only trust the manufacturer. I went out today and bought another Samsung 850 EVO 250 GIG. What would you have done in this case? I believe I have picked the correct solution.
  24. I did have Nod32 but it run out and I didn't renew. That's why I need to run ESET online scanner when needed. Does a great job but need to check relevent boxes in advanced first. Quite slow compared to other scanners, but does the best job.
