When I first installed it asked me to create an account which I did with a gmail address. That gmail account has been in the top right of all office products from the day I installed. I have had non-stop problems with crashing, odd window behavior, and the inability to pin, so I tried reinstalling today. I tried to have everything ready! I made a backup of my email and opened up Word to copy (what I thought was) the product key and opened Excel to compare keys and made sure they were the same. I wrote the key down, uninstalled and reinstalled. After loooots of problems trying to get the installer to even work (apparently changing the name of the installer file stops it from working!) I finally got to the finishing point - it asked me to sign in. I did so with the associated gmail address and I got the fun message "The account --- isn't associated with this Office product. To activate this install, please sign in with the account associated with your product". I went back and tried signing in with the key instead and that's when I discovered that whatever number I had copied down (which was the only one I could find anywhere in the about panel) was a 20 digit alphanumeric code, and googling revealed that actually it should be a 25 digit code. Um... great? So now I'm stuck with a paid version of Office that I have no way of using and I'm at work with no email, no word and no excel. Pretty much 99% of what I do in a day. HELP? I got on wife's computer found it hadn't been updating. I installed internet explorer 8 and and windows security essentials everything seem to go well. next morning essentials coulden't update, when I went to updates it's like my computer has never saw this computer I ger error message 0X80070424. And trys to send me for extension reader. I have reinstalled twice and same problem when I try to ypdate windows.. It shows no updae history although I am sure it has sp3 and until recently I maintained all maintence on PC's. Its like location of files have changed and up doesnt see updates . I can look at system and it shows latest version of win XP SP 3. I reinstalled esentials this morning and check for up date and says cant connect. and get same error as windows update 0X80070424. I am having trouble with the following updates:- KB2726535- KB2758857Both packages fail even after trying several times with the Windows Updater I tried to download and install both manual with a clean boot option (i know you will try and suggest it if i don't tell you i have already done it) both at the end say that this update has not been installed. I tried to fix this by using the System File Checker, but that tool couldn´t find anything wrong with the system. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this. My PC is running on a 64 bit Windows 7 Pro.Thanks! View this thread

Updated windows 7 Pro 64 bit with K280149 today and it changed my network settings from Home to Public, needless to say I could no longer access any internet connections. Uninstalled K280149 and all is back to normal. I did this 3 times just to make sure the update was the culprit. I don't know what Microsoft is up to but it has to be deliberate, no writer can make such a mistake accidently or they would be fired on the spot. Dan@DBS View this thread

I have Windows 7, with Microsoft Esssentials for virus control, Speedy PC Pro, and (here is the program in question) now, Malwarebytes (this was recommended by "Adavnced Tech Support", referred by "safe cart"). I am PC illiterate for the most part, so I ask, Is malwarebytes compatible with all I have and like? My PC just informed mw that it is not, Says it is compatible with Windows xp 2. I have installed a program which has hijacked the extension .asc from notepad (where it was previously associated). I have been able to re-associate it with notepad for opening but the displayed icon is still from the other program. I still need the other program but also would like the file type to open in a text editor (the hijacking program will function without the association, at least it does on my Win7 system).Any help would be appreciated.Don View this thread

My computer just shut down while I was using it to do one of those wonderful auto updates that it does not even give me a warning to save my stuff. Once it started back up, I noticed right away my desktop background was missing. Also, internet explorer is gone. I searched the computer, and it is just no longer installed. I check my personal files, and noticed that my download folder is no longer accessible either. Firefox was still on my computer, but all of my saved links and saved passwords, totally gone as well. Trojan: JS/Medfos.B has just appeared on my laptop. The Microsoft Essentials program is picking it up and quarantining it, but every time I delete the virus, it reappears. I m using Windows 7 for a year and now in the last week in Windows Explorer or on the desktop if I right click on a folder or on the desktop I no longer have a list of options under new except briefcase. I bought my Samsung Computor from best Buy last year. Had no problems until last weeks when my computor say that the Winows 7 that I have may not be genuine and could be counterfeit. Cannot run update because windows is saying service is not running.,please restart your computer. Have done this on 2 occasions and still same. Troubleshooted problem and it ran checks and repairs and said error was fixed and to try again...but lo and behold ran update again and got same message!! I have many updates that are unsuccessful, pressed the FIXIT tab which tells me that the problem is solved and the next day its back again. When I turn the computer off it says installing 1 of 4, or 1 of 2 updates. But they are rarely installed. Any ideas ? Thank You. Ray. View this thread

On 3-15-13, we had a storm, and even tho I had a surge protector for some reason, it set my date one(1) year ahead to 3-15-14 which i did not notice in time, so when I started my pc, it had an installtion update, which was this: Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2807986) Well least to say, my pc was a little confused, because until I changed the actual date in the BIOS? It had still installed this update for the year 2014, so my pc and browsers would not work properly till I changed the date. But in the meantime, the correct installation of this certain update was never done.. So, I need help on what to do. How do I take off this update? Or do i leave it and just manually install the correct update? Whichever it is, I need help on how to do this and where to find the correct update? Can someone Please help me? and Thank you! Het lukt me niet om bestaande (XP en hoger) office bestanden die op een USB stick staan te openen wanneer deze in het USB slot van de Experiabox zit. Krijg deze foutmelding vanuit het betreffende Office programma: “De toegang is geweigerd. Neem contact op met de beheerder.” In het File Server menu van de Experiabox heb ik Security uitgevinkt. Wanneer ik de stick direct in een PC plaats, zijn alle bestanden leesbaar. Andere bestanden (.txt, .pdf etc) zijn leesbaar. Wanneer ik een nieuw bestand maak en opsla op de stick in de Experiabox, kan ik dat later gewoon openen. Het probleem doet zich voor met PC’s onder W7 en W8 en met office 2010 resp 2013. I reinstalled IE8, after which Windows updates didn't work and I got 0x80070424 error. (XPHome SP3) I re installed SP3 but this didn't fix it. I tried the FIXIT suggested by David Vinod (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-windows_update/updates-continue-to-pop-up-but-cannot-download-no/73ccc5a1-64c1-4ffe-90be-32e4c7c93bbd) but this didn't cure it. My last updates were in November 2012, nothing since. Any ideas how to resolve the problem? This fix Microsoft Fix it 50687 enabled me to download the updates but they wouldn't install. hi sir, i have lenovo z570 win 7 ultimate pc. it have a 750 gb hdd. when i check properties of disk f from my computer screen then it says 107 gb used. but when i check properties of all my files (incuding hidden files and system protected files) then it says 95 gb. where is my 12 gb. i have gone to diskmgmt.msc , jdisk report etc. this all do not tell where is my 15 gb. i need help :) ): View the thread
