  4. I just did a test and followed the guide and I did get the role. It could be a problem with RC1. I didn't have any problem in the released build. Why are you using an RC when final version is available and you can get a free 180 day eval?

  6. Anyone here had both? recently I accepted a new position and I had to give back my iPhone. Its been two weeks but the shakes have finally gone away. Now I am extremely unhappy with my Verizon Chocolate, esp since I now use my cell for work. I'd rather be able to get a Verizon phone but frankly it doesn't seem like they have anything close to as awesome as iPhone. Is anyone really happy with a phone with Windows mobile? Has anyone had both? Thinking about just cancelling my verizon contract and going with AT&T :( More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
  7. Hey all, I''m working on a GUI application for Windows Mobile and I'm having trouble detectomg input on devices with QWERTY keyboards (HTC and Samsung models). Two questions: A: QWERTY input works "under the hood" in standard windows gui components, but in this application we create own GUI and thus we directly handle the basic Form.OnKeyPressed and Form.OnKeyDown events. The data sent to the event handlers don't seem to contain correctly mapped key codes for QWERTY keys with or without modifiers... What is the "canon" way of detecting what the QWERTY keys actually "intend" to send - ie. intended character taking into consideration pressed modifier keys such as fn, caps, shift etc. B: Is there any straight forward way of detecting whether the device has QWERTY capability and/or is in "QWERTY mode"* (ie. keyboard slid out on slide models?) 8. First off I'll post with the thought you'll be using the 64bit version of Windows 2008. I would go for an Intel Quad core processor or dual Xeons and use an Intel motherboard. For memory go with 4 gigs unless you'll be running database intensive apps then go with at least 8gigs. Memory of choice for me is GSkill. Use SCSI drives, at least 5, in a raid 10 array for redundancy and best performane. Whatever you company currently uses for backup will work fine. I haven't had any problems with any hardware so if you buy top of the line components you be sure it will last you a long tme.
  9. Best advice I can give is to that if Windows 2003 ran on the hardware Windows 2008 will run fine. Unlike going from XP to Vista this is a server OS so you won't be running glass or any of the other effects that are standard with Vista. If anything Winodws 2008 will run better and more efficient on te same hardware as Winodws 2003.

  12. There is a difference in the way services are handled. Services that would install and run on 2003 don't work on 2008. I haven't had a chance to look deeper into the difference. I really should take the time because I know this type of problem will hit me when I start to migrate clients from 2003 to Windows 2008 Server. Please post what you find and I will do the same.
