  1. They are our friends. Without them no one would find us. They check the site and make sure Google and the search engines have the freshest content from the site.
  2. I was wondering when this was going to happen. Once they added the technology to get the real IP behind a proxy you knew it would only be a matter of time before this happened. Our online privacy is just about gone.
  3. Howdy and welcome. Pull up a chair and make yourself at home.
  4. Short life for that Surface.
  5. Not yet, but, we will soon. I'm working on something else right now. Once that is done I'll be adding a resources section for adding those.
  6. It's really up to the app developers to add that as an option. Maybe it will just take them time to update. I know in the past they restricted a lot of apps from being moved to SD so developers never coded in that option.
  7. I will be doing one more thing, but, it will not affect the site. I will be changing registrars and during that change you shouldn't even notice it happening. I am gradually moving the domains I have to Google Domains. This is the last domain to move. All the rest went without a hitch.
  8. I had to flushdns to get it working. Probably because I am on the same network as the servers.
  9. Server move complete. If you still see the closed sign use flushdns to purge the DNS cache.
  10. I am in process of moving the site to another server. I had some problems last week with the server and moved it to a backup server until I could get things troubleshooted and fixed. The problems are now fixed so I will be moving the site off the backup server. Downtime should be minimal. It will depend on how long the IP change takes. If you get a closed sign when visiting the site do a hard refresh of your browser. You might also have to use ipconfig to flush the DNS cache. Files are being copied over now. Once that is complete I will dump the database and move it. After the database is dumped I will close down the site and change the IP in DNS to the other server.
  11. I used Pale Moon for about 2 hours and removed it. I had all kinds of issues with it. Freezes, crashes and other oddities.
  12. Yep. 6TH biggest storm in history and just like always happens when we have a storm like this we get winds higher than 40MPH so 19.2 inches in places looks like 6 foot.
  13. We had a major snowstorm which knocked us offline for a few hours so it was rough sledding for a while.
  14. Let me dust off my old Visual Basic skills. There is a file system OCX you can use in your app to search for specific files or you can use it to open files. You'll have to code what you want it to do. You can also use file i/o API to open specific files by specifying a path in the APP.
  15. Hello Gary and welcome to Free PC Help Forum.
  16. One other thing. There is a setting to limit the amount of bandwidth that the app uses. It is set by default on most torrent clients to use the full pipe for uploading. Since he is downloading music then he is more than likely using up all his upload which will drastically slow his download speed. The fluctuations you see is because of this. I use uTorrent, an older version before they slammed it with all the junk ads, to download Linux ISOs and other legal things. BitTorrent is much faster for downloading than downloading from FTP.
  17. I had my laptop battery die. I changed it out and had the same error. I never thought about uninstalling the driver. I just let it be since it remains in the dock. I got to try this to see if the error clears.
  18. You didn't have to do a re-install. You could have used SConfig while at the command line. Then option 12. I switch back and forth all the time. I go to GUI mode when doing what I'm doing now. When I get done I'll put it back in core mode. That's the best thing I like about 2012.
  19. I saw that a couple day ago. I can't wait until it is a reality.
  20. I am having some problems with the server this site is on. To troubleshoot it I have to take it offline. I am in the process of moving the site to another server. At times you might not be able to get to the site. You might notice some quirkiness when on the site. I have a powershell script querying the server from the backup server and if it finds the server went down it reboots it via the KVM. This causes a hard reboot, similar to unplugging the server, so when it comes back online you might get errors for a short time. After the script reboots the server it times out for 15 minutes and then runs a repair on the database. Each time the server has gone down today the database had the sessions table corrupted. The script truncates that table so if you happened to be logged in you'll get logged out. At this point I am moving the site files over. I am about half done. The database is easy. I already set up the replacement server as a slave so the files databases shouldn't take long to sync up. I'll update this when everything is moved.
  21. I am going to take the plunge on my main box after I get the site issues cleaned up.
  22. I'll just say that every second release was bad from Windows 98SE. Windows 98SE being the good one. Millennium, Vista, Windows 8 fall into that category although I ran them all and while I had issues they weren't as bad as many said.
  23. It looks correct to me. As long as the RAM is PC 3200 then it will work. Most RAM is non-ecc and unbuffered so those don't matter unless you're running a server in which case you'll need ecc.
  24. It probably will be a yearly fee. Microsoft has been wanting to go the SAS (software as a service ) route for years. This is the way to do it. Give Windows 10 for free then after a year offer upgrades at a price. Adobe went this route. It actually cost me less now for Photoshop. As long as my subscription is kept up I get the new version as soon as they are released.
  25. I used to use NOD32 for the longest time. I might have to pickup a copy and use it again. I don't know why I stopped to tell the truth.
