I recently installed new internet equpment (modem & dish) to Exede. Since then I have not been able to use any browsers to do a search or even connect on certain websites. The error message comes back: with Internet Explorer it is: Error 330(net::err_content_decoding_failed):unknown error, with Firefox it is: Content Encoding Error, The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression., Chrome error message is the same and underneath it gives the Error 330 message, decoding failed: unknown error. It seems that Yahoo plays a big part in these error messages. My home page was set to yahoo but when I could not access the internet, I changed my home page to MSN which loads correctly as does Bing.com. However, when I click on Chrome, it starts loading immediately but there is an additional tab behind that tries to load yahoo.com. I searched everyplace in my computer and deleted anything that relates to yahoo, but it still seems to remain a thorn in the side. My internet provider tech support tells me my DNS is set to automatic and everything is as it should be. They cannot trouble shoot browser errors as it is a third party. It was at first thought that I needed a new router since my old one was a "g" configuration and the new system likes an "n" configuration. Bought a new router and installed it. Nothing changed. It works fine, but neither my husband nor I can do any searches online or reach certain websites we previously could. We can send and receive emails but that's it. How can I fix the compression error message so I can use the internet as it is supposed to be? Thanks in advance, V View this thread

So this is probably the 6th-7th time trying to do this. But to be honest I am having absolutely no luck trying to get desktop experience on my system.I've tried all the generic solutions: I tried doing the "Install via powershell" but with no luckI've tried installing Database via SQL, (Which the role actually installed properly) but that too didn't get it to work.Tried looking for the manual update, but I couldn't find it for this specific one. I tried using the update fixit tool, but it also failed, saying that it "fixed it" when it actually didn't.Here is my cbs.log file2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS TI: --- Initializing Trusted Installer ---2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS TI: Last boot time: 2013-04-16 11:31:18.4852013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Starting TrustedInstaller initialization.2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Ending TrustedInstaller initialization.2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Starting the TrustedInstaller main loop.2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS TrustedInstaller service starts successfully.2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS No startup processing required, TrustedInstaller service was not set as autostart2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Startup processing thread terminated normally2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Starting TiWorker initialization.2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Ending TiWorker initialization.2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Starting the TiWorker main loop.2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS TiWorker starts successfully.2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Universal Time is: 2013-04-16 15:57:51.5172013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Loaded Servicing Stack v6.2.9200.16455 with Core: C:Windowswinsxsamd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16455_none_624a7aa150f57306cbscore.dll2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CSI 00000001@2013/4/16:15:57:51.517 WcpInitialize (wcp.dll version 0.0.0.6) called (stack @0x7fc93ec5281 @0x7fc964891b6 @0x7fc9644425c @0x7f63af0cfa7 @0x7f63af0d720 @0x7fcbfe22005)2013-04-16 11:57:51, Info CBS Could not load SrClient DLL from path: SrClient.dll. Last two weeks I used Kaspersky Internet Security Suit on my PC since I believe and Internet Security suit suppose to provide the best protection as it will be more reliable besides I'm paranoid about security and I rather have an Antivirus being constantly updated rather than every 24 hours. I scanned my conputer and found no malware on my PC. After the trial expired I tried Bitdefender since both Bitdefender and Kaspersky are known to be the two best and when I scanned my PC using Bitdefender it detected 2 malware on my PC when Kaspersky dident. Even worse when I removed it and scanned my PC using Malwarebytes after booting from Hirens Boot CD it detected 4 treats on my PC. My question is how is that possible, is it jus giving me false alerts to purchase the software. I mean I expect if u use and Internet Security Suit or even a free antivrus it suppose to detect and remove any type on malware on your PC weather it is a virus or even spyware. Am I wrong about this? Does this mean I have to like install and antivirus, antispyware, antirootkit and even antimalware software separately in order to protect me ? View this thread

HP is dependent on Microsoft to push their drivers now, very annoying for me, a help desk technician, to find drivers for HP for people that need to load drivers for their home printers. We have group policies in place that force updates to come from our servers which filter what updates are allowed to pass through. we found that if we have the printer we can drop the system off the domain log in as a local admin and get the drivers. However, most times the end user cannot bring their home printer into work, and even if they can bring it in, it is a huge hastle. Does anyone have a website where I can just download the HP printer drivers for windows 7 and XP? View this thread

I can connect to the internet using a hotspot and my home connection does work on other devices (my husband's computer, smart phone connection, etc.) The only way I can get it to connect is to remove the update (I believe it had changes to Security Essentials which I do run). Once removed I can connect just fine. I have an HP 64 bit laptop with Windows 7. Since it's a critical update I want it on my computer but not if I can no longer connect to the internet. I've restored all security setting to the defaults and turned off the firewall for my home connection - still didn't work. Any idea what settings I should check? View this thread

Within the past week, something happened to my Browser. There was some type of Microsoft Update that changed my Brower opening page from Comcast XFINITY to MSN. At the same time, the favorites bar on the left side of my screen disappeared. At the same time, My wife machine was upgrade somehow and she can no longer access her mail account at work. I am not sure what other change might have been made. I am attempting to find out if anyone else has/had the same problem. Someone suggested that I look to see if the most recent updates completed successfully completed. We can get to the Webmail long in screen. We enter ID and Password but the system just gives us the message "running" but not connection. After the update/upgrade ( to IE I believe) or whatever it is called that changed my home page/favorites etc. ( and my wife's), when we typed in the url we just get a message at the top of the screen that it is "running" but nothing completes/ happens ( other then the messages continues to say running). We had run into a similar problem with accessing Hotmail in Jan, after an update of some fashion. We were advised to try Firefox to access and it worked. Yesterday, I tried to access the webmail via firefox and it worked. I then tried IE but I still get the "running" indicator when we enter the ID and Passwork. I had previously gotten this recommendation when I had entered the Windows 8 Forum ( incorrectly). """"You may be able to identify the one you suspect by the date it was applied (and you believe your problems began). You will need the KB number to discuss it. e.g. (KB 1234567) Most likely it was an update to Internet Explorer, either a Security or performance update.""" """ Notice whether the update was successfully applied. While you are in System, click on "Check for Updates" to see if there are any not yet applied. A new batch came out today, I believe.""" After some advice on this issue. I get a lot of (legitimate and wanted) email notifications to a forum I am a member of. The emails include a link to the latest posts. Today on two different PC's (one Vista IE9 and one W7 IE10) I find I get redirected to a file sharing site when clicking a forum link in one of the notification emails. Another window also prompts to download an HD codec (that site looks suspiciously like Adobe but isn't). If I click the same link again it works as expected taking me to the correct forum posting. If I clear IE history the same redirect happens again... just the once. What is even more strange is that the Vista PC is not deleting the cookies and login info for the legitimate site that sent the email when I run a full browser cleanup. I can still enter the site as logged in. I also can not open an "attachments" window on that forum on the Vista PC since this happened. Does this sound like any kind of malware etc. I run MSE on both and both come back as clean. View this thread

View the thread

Windows 7 operating system. Have run Windows Security Troubleshooter - no problem found. Microsoft Safety Scanner - no problem found. Microsoft Security Essentials is up to date as of 4/14/2013. MS Security Essentials continues to find the Trojan:JS/Medflos.B. It is detected and quarantined. I take the action to remove all. The Trojan:JS/Medflos.B continues to be found and quarantined. I do a full scan and there will be about 39 incidents of the Trojan:JS/Medflos.B. What next? View this thread

Recently cannot install various "important" security updates - all repeatedly fail with error code 8000FFFF. Tried fixit but the relevant files do not exist in my registry. Read that installing KB947821 may help - system update readiness tool for vista. However this does not install. Package initialises and then just sticks on 0 progress. Have left for several hours with no movement. Also tried from a clean boot with no better result. I attempted to unistall service pack 2 last night having read this worked for someone, but on startup this morning messages came up saying this had failed and the system was being restored to previous state. Have installed Malwarebytes but this is finding nothing. Virus scans are also negative (I have AVG) I tried to paste the latest CBS log but it was too long. Any suggestions? View this thread
