Before doing so look carefully at the hardware.
Several years ago when Wal-Mart tried this before, there was talk of
that very thing except use the new Windows XP to replace the installed
Linspire.
The hardware was at least partially incompatible with Windows XP so
the necessary upgrades removed all the financial benefit of the cheap
computer.
Of course this is several years later but driver availability is as
important today as ever.
