The thing that really sucks is when MS makes it impossible to get Office
2003 now. Office 2003 was/is stable, works well and most people have
enough computer to use it without lag. Office 2007 is a complete PIG,
and I can actually type faster than it puts it on the screen, even under
Win XP systems. I can't even order Office 2003 any more.

You can't be trying very hard.

Yeah, I like Office 2003 myself and have it in storage with the rest of my
stuff, while on the road. I am getting pretty use to Microsoft Works now on
Vista.

I'll be in Columbus for an interview with a consulting firm, for hopefully a
fulltime position with them. I am tired of moving around the US contracting.

Yep, I started my own company a long time ago, was on the road 50 weeks
a year doing sales and design work, was a pain living in a hotel all
that time. I quit that crap and have never been happier - now when I
take a job outside the area it's because I want it and I can take the
family with me for a mini-vacation.

But where is the need now, with Vista? What would most people get in
Vista that they don't ready have in XP or other?

That's the big problem with Micorsoft... they jsut don't get it that
people want to have a choice rather than being practically forced to the
new version, even if just by lack of supply of the previous version as
you described. Office 2003 is a pretty solid version, runs fine on my
old laptop too (an old pentium 2)... and I'm just shudder at the thought
of attempting to run 2007 on it.

That's for the end-user to determine as to what he or she wants, not you
or I. Or am I missing something here?

The only thing that speaks volumes is that you need to run your mouth, which
your mouth will be ignored now -- crawl back into your hole.

This is a that's a soft logical .

I'm running it on 9 machines, all of them are single core CPU's or
P4/3.2Ghz machines, 2 or more GB RAM, SATA-II drives, fast video cards
(256MB or less), and it's just a pig for performance.

I agree the actual "need" is not for you or I to decide, but the the
question of what one gets in Vista that they cannot get in XP remains.

I am not here to debate or listen to someone's opinions as to who needs
what, and in general, not about anything else either as far as that is
concerned, nothing against you personally.

If one wants to use Vista and he or she is happy with it, then one uses it.
If one is not happy with Vista and he or she doesn't want to use Vista, then
one doesn't use it. If one doesn't want to use Vista out of the
gate/period, then he or she doesn't use it.

As to the reasons why about any of it, I don't care. I am here for one thing
and one thing only. And that's to try to help the poster that needs help, if
I can provide it.

I can't make it any plainer to you than that.

But you helped no one in this thread. All you did was attempt to support
Leythos by insulting everyone else. Supporting someone is not
accomplished be insulting others. Help all you want, but leave the other
crap at the door. I can't make it any plainer to you.
