As populations increase, the use of everything increases.
Also, when you go from 10 users to 50 users, its a meaningless 500%
increase.

But its not as secure.. you remember that thing that you insist is the best
reason to run Ubuntu.. the one you mistakenly claim is secure.

Actually, I'm sitting down at the moment, enjoying the hell out of this
superior Ubuntu operating system and wondering what I *ever* saw in Windows.

Now, go see Santa, sit on his lap, tell him about Jeeeeeesus and leave
us rational people alone.

I've a theory about things like Linux

I call it the "thank god for the devil" syndrome

A devil is created by the, in this case, Linux scriptwriters
The devil is Microsoft. The devil has to be battled, for our very lives are
at stake.
In war (battles), everything is fair. This removes certain obstacles, like
facts, honesty and fair play.
With this, we are off on our campaign to do battle.

For some the real world is just too much to deal with, so they slip into
this make believe world.
If you don't have to worry about facts, things become much easier. If the
other side has taken up with
the devil, then there is no need to engage in a discussion. You simply deem
them unworthy of being dealt with.
Easy, neat and tidy. "thank god for the devil"

All things come with a price however. In this case they quickly become what
they thought they hated.
Life has a way of taking care of things

Ubuntu is more than secure enough for the desktop. You are correct, FreeBSD
is probably a little more secure than Linux as a web server platform,
unless one is running SELinux.

Cheers.

Its funny how windows isn't secure enough for the desktop and yet when a
more secure alternative to Linux is mentioned you don't need any more
security. I wonder why you draw the line at Linux and not either side? Have
you done a quantative evaluation of the choices or is it just a gut feeling?

And even then .. suppose X-Windows frigs up [which is more likely to happen
than no] .. you are left having to find and fix obscure config files
scattered all over a ridiculous file system .. as in good luck if you don't
have to re-install the thing .. that is if one is stupid enough to actually
re-install it instead of tossing the CD into the trash bin.

It isn't a "gut feeling". My assessment is from real world experience. I
have NEVER had a security problem in all the years I've run Linux. I know
of no other Linux user, and I communicate with many of them on a constant
basis, that has ever reported having a security problem on their desktop.
Windoze on the other hand ... well, I'm sure you know that story very well.
Most Windoze support technicians spend the majority of their time trying to
clean malware off Windoze boxes.

Cheers.

Poor boy. You obviously have no idea of the power that Ubuntu offers. I can
do so many things with this Ubuntu box, that you can't even dream of doing
with Windoze. And if you could, you'd only be able to if you spent
mega-bucks purchasing tons of third-party software that tries to give one
the power on Windoze one gets for free with Linux. And no, I'm not going to
waste time giving you examples of what I'm talking about. Obviously, you're
a hopeless Wintard that knows nothing about Linux.

Cheers.
