Thanks. I hadn't seen anything like that in the ubuntu/kubuntu areas I
have visited, as I generally am looking for some specific info and go
directly to it via a search. Unfortunately, such bad behavior isn't
confined to one os fan base or another, and it is sad for the lack of
civility exhibited in this case and others, regardless of what os one
might favor.

Because some people, one of whom could possibly be YOU, have signed up
there and acted badly does not, in any way, prove your generalization
about Linux users any more than Frank's bizarre behavior proves anything
about Vista users. You just have sour grapes because you couldn't set up
Ubuntu to your liking.

That said, if one fuçks up a Ubuntu install, it's a helluva lot easier
to reinstall Ubuntu than Windows.

Then watch the hatred.
I got sick of it ... I wouldn't put Linux on a toaster

I saw the way you strutted into AOLU. You were looking to make Ubuntu
look bad and you got slammed down so quick it made your poor little head
spin. Now, you're pissed due to the humiliation and it shows. Need a hankie?

That said, when I first installed Ubuntu, I put it on a machine I didn't
care about, an AMD Athlon 800 with 512 MB of PC133 RAM and played around
with it for about six months, still using XP most of the time. Little by
little, Ubuntu became more familiar and easier to use and XP became
clunkier and not nearly as pleasant a desktop as you can configure
Ubuntu to be.
