Thank you for your replyI am running XP home service pack 3 on Sony PCV-RZ30CGP Intel 865 Chipset Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 AMI 6000326 Bios 6-26-03 2gigs PC 2700 DDR ram 3 g hz processor There were no new programs or hardware installed recently.There was an error message on the blue screen but no file was mentioned. just an error number something lik x000000007c or something like that. I wish i had written it down but I didn't. Now when I boot, it doesn't go to blue screen that was the only time it did. It starts windows normally until the log on screen where if you select a user, it starts to log in, then takes you back to the log on screen. Is there a way for me to see what the error from the blue screen was through DOS?The link you sent me i couldn't use because when I boot to safe mode when it gets to the user log on screen and I select a user it starts to log on to the user then kicks me out and saves my settings and returns me to the log on screen.is there any way to access the Windows system recovery in DOS? Also, because you mentioned possible issues with the AV, I'm using AVG Free version. View this thread

Windows update and now computer won't turn on as it is coming up with the message fatal error c0000034 applying update operation. I have looked into this on the Internet and it says to put the windows disk in. I had to resinstall XP operating system to "out of box state", wiping the hard drive clean. In the past I have done this and was able to activate the updates either by shutting down the system, and/or selecting "express updates". This time "express updates" after checking returns a message that the "...page cannot be displayed.. This happens whether I go to "tools" and scroll down to "window update", or whether I select update in the security center window. Original Title : Need Help Please Hello Everyone and I hope some one can help me. My java needed to be updated. I deleted all previous java and tried to download the free java version for Windows 7 @ java.com It acts like it's loading then I get a pop up window telling me this .... sunjavajrel.1.7.0.21java_sp.dll is corrupted. So I guess that's why it won't reload and download :( and here I am with NO java on my system and you know what that causes. I tried restore to a previous date but it won't allow me to go back to restore from today. 21/04/2013 so it doesn't fix that file. Does anyone know how I can fix this corruption? I cannot install Windows update, Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 for x64-based Systems (KB2656356 ). I am trying to reload Windows XP, because it has what I believe is a virus. When I get to the screen that ask you to press F8 to accept nothing happens. Is there another way to accept - I tried control I and it doesn't work. Background: The Dell laptop belongs to a friend and it stopped working. When you power it up it goes through the bootup secquence and then you get a blank screen. When I turned the computer off and back on I get the choose of how to start windows and I selected Safe mode. The system goes through reading the config file and then stops.
