Hi I am running windows 8 64 bit and am unable to do update kb2822241 . It downloads and installs but when I restart the pc it does not accept the update and informs me it is reverting to previous version . I have run the troubleshooter that tells me it is repaired but after updating does exactly the same. Many thanks Stu View this thread

Since applying the latest round of Microsoft patches on April 11th 2013, every time my Win 7 Pro 64-bit workstations restart, they want to do a disk check, and the system log registers an error event ID 55, source NTFS, "The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unuseable..." If the user allows the disk check to happen, it takes maybe five minutes, finds no problems, then the OS finishes loading and everything seems fine. If the user elects to skip the disk check, the same thing happens--OS loads, everything groovy. Either way, the next restart again calls for the disk check. I tried running a full chkdsk /R on one system, but that found no problems and did not clear the need for a disk check either. This began with the first restart after installing the updates a couple days ago, and affects all or nearly all my Win 7 systems. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas on which update caused it or how to get rid of this seemingly frivolous disk check on every boot? View this thread

It's happened a few times now. Windows updates (Win 8 pro x64) are restoring the Podcasts Library (which I have deleted previously), and also restore the &quotRecent places&quot and &quotDownloads&quot favourite shortcuts in explorer, which I also have deleted previously. It's just a bit annoying I see no reason for it. View this thread

The new WP 7.8 update has just landed in the UK so I wanted to update my Nokia Lumia 710. However, every time I request the update it does to comply, reading that the update has failed. The error code is 80070424. I have tried various fixes from the Microsoft website and they all seem to be able to identify and issue with the Windows Update system but cannot fix it!? Restarted phone and computer, looked on various forums and everything has been unsuccessful. Please help me! View this thread

Hi All, I have a Windows 7 Lenovo IdeaPad Z570. It has been in perfect working order until it did a Windows Update when I shut it down. After it completed and I turned it back on, it only manages to get to the Windows 7 logo bit at the beginning of the reboot before the screen turns blue and the computer cuts off and restarts. I takes me to Windows Recovery. The Start Up Repair won't work and the System Restore keeps failing. I need help as I do not know what to do to get it working and starting up! :S Thanks JG View the thread

I had a lot of trouble getting two security updates to install. This one keeps being presented and then failing after it was shown in the update history as successful. I searched installed updates and it does not appear so it must be corrupt. What now? View this thread

Windows update installed this update kb2823324 on patch Tuesday and I have no problems. The latest bulletin I received from Microsoft said to uninstall it, I did and there was no difference so I reinstalled it and nothing bad has been going on. Will it hurt anything to leave it installed? View the thread

i did a refresh on the laptop, it did not install, so I did a restore and STILL not. I bought office 2013 student edition from the microsoft store. The installation stops at about 45% and the sais it ran into problems and it cannot install. when I check my installed programs there is NOTHING in the list except chrome which I JUST installed. Over the last couple of months, I've been encountering the BSOD , BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER, STOP: 0x000000FE......Event 41. I have an HP Pavilion p6510f Home Premium desktop with Windows 7, 64 bit. It is now out of warranty. I've been able to restore things using the repair disc I made when I first got the machine.( I also made the three recovery discs.) This last time, however, I'm unable to even start the computer. It is getting power, &amp when I press the power button, I can hear the fans &amp the hard drive spinning, but it doesn't boot into anything. I've run scandisk &amp chkdsk after each episode. The last time I ran dskrsk, I got the message when finished, that the "volume is clean." In Event Viewer, there is a report of 2 error events, Source: NTFS , Event ID: 55, Log Name:System, that says "The file system structure is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the OS."I did run the utility &amp got the message mentioned that the volume is clear. I can't send anything as I'm using a different PC, &amp cannot get the PC in question to start. Please, ....any suggestions? View the thread

Hi!I am using windows 8 Pro 64-bit on HP dv6-7040TX. After installing windows update, when I click to shut down my system it does not shut down properly, It goes on hibernate mode. But, if I restart the system immediately after windows update installation, then it starts applying the update. after that everything works well.Kindly please provide me a solution for this problem. I was asked if i wanted to add features to windows 8 to which i agreed, as i had just paid for another app. The update ended up with the black screen of death, so i refreshed the system with my disk as there was nothing else i could have done under the circumstances.But my question really, is i have lost everything except documents. How do i go about re registering windows office 2010, because apparently i have exceeded the amount of times that this program can be installed. Plus i have paid for about 6 apps, how can i get these back again, because i am a little worried that it was the purchase of windows 8 audio and video player, that screwed things up really bad also i have lost windows media center that i paid forBecause of third parties being involved, it makes it even harder to validate M/s apps and programs. I really think there has to be some accountability here, it is no use just saying we are sorry, it is a real cop out. When is M/s going to recognize that there are some serious issues with windows 8 and create a fix for all these glitches of a service pack or something.Sorry if i sound frustrated because i am really and not thinking straight, as it has taken me ally day to get everything running again, with wireless programs etc. But hey any help would be gratefully received, as my money is hard earned and i just cant afford new programs. I'm using the same software, the same hardware that I've been using for months. the only thing that has changed is Windows blasted updates.I've read similar issues on the internet and one fellow suggested that the file SPLWOW64.exe can be stopped and that may resolve the problem. The first time I stopped this file, I was then able to use photoshop without the hangs which follow every freeken click in the program. However, Windows simply reinstalls that file and runs it every time a program that can print is started. Subsequently, stopping the file 'SPLWOW64.exe doesn't solve the problem. Note the problem has NOTHING to do with printing as I am not attempting to print anything. View this thread
