I have been trying to install 4 of the latest updates with no success. I am told that the update was successful and then asked to restart the computer. When I do so the computer hangs on shut down. After about 30 min with no disk drive activity I will force a shut down and then reboot to a BSOD or an inability to start Windows screen. Windows auto repair will run for 45 min and then tell me it cannot do the repair and I will have to try to restore the computer which has worked so far. It is a portable with duo core 2 2gb of ram and40 gb free disk space. I reinstalled windows in Feb 2013 7 Ultimate. TheUp dates are KB 2808735 KB2813170 KB2813347 &amp KB2799926. I have run file checker, malwarebytes and all have been OK. I have rebooted between applying other updates and these with same results. There have not been any error messages. Any suggestions? Hi All Computer Experts, I am using HP Compaq Presario, MS WindowsXP Home Edition SP2 - 32bits There is Windows Automatic Updates function in System Properties. I have selected this function for everyday auto-updates. How do I know that this function is working alright? I did not see any indication in the taskbar telling me that my computer is in the process of auto-updating or it has been auto-updated whenever I use my computer. I also did not get to see any report of the auto-update. If I select the time for the auto-update to be around midnight when my computer is power off, will it perform the updating once my computer is turned on the next morning? I am changing to a Dell Precision T 5400 duel Xeon quad core, 2.0Hz and it will not take even the .NET FRAME WORK 3.5 sp which I understand I need for all the other drivers to run with. For now I have installed a Windows XP pro 32 bit OS to get it up and running to make sure it does not need any kind of work. When I have everything as far as hardware / software working I intend to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. It just will not connect to the net.? Have not been able to get any of the drivers to take from this, working computer to disk and install on the Precision. I'm running 32 bit Windows XP with service pack 3, I've installed Security Update for Windows XP (KB2813170). It shows as being successfully installed, but Windows update keeps telling me I need to install it. I've tried deleting KB2813170 and then re-installing it. I was quite happily running Windows 7 Home Premium. I was given a 10 minute warning that my system had to be updated. I managed to delay this by postponing for a few days but eventually it just closed everything and ran. When the update was complete I was unable to load any page. I have been trying for a long time to rememdy a situation I have with my system. I cannot download and install any Windows Updates. I continually get error codes and the process stops. somehow my taskbar has ended up at the top of my desktop screen. when i unlock taskbar and attempt to drag it back to bottom, it will only move halfway down screen, at which drag feature (capability) is disabled. View this thread
