So in order to disagree with me, you are now saying that Linux can "work
well" with MS OSs?

ROFL!

I'd forgotten how desperate you can get to find a way to disagree with me!

And you'd probably enjoy those same games on an XBox or a Playstation
even more.

PC gaming is the biggest elephant in the Linux room, but most people tend
to play their games on gaming platforms, and use their computers for
communications and information/content gathering.

A couple of years ago, I was the one that was saying that Linux isn't
ready for the average computer user, but the times there are 'achangin'!

And quite frankly, nothing could be better for Windows users than more
competition coming from the Linux side of the market. Imagine how good
MS has to make its OSs with the pressure of competition goading it own!

No, I didn't say that, you made that up to help your failed position.

I said that some Linux solutions can be setup to work well with Windows,
but you already know that - you made a overly broad statement, it's not
true in that scope. My statement limited the scope and is correct as
posted.

Envy? Why, because I happen to use different distro's based on the
clients needs? I see Ubuntu was the perfect OS platform for the people
that don't do more than surf and play on the web, Fedora for the serious
worker/small business.

Nope, don't own a game box of any type - just computers.

Every PC user I know has a PC for playing games and working also,
depending on what they call work, no single person I know has two
computers, one for games and one for work.

I agree, Ubuntu has made the OS/Internet simple for the simple, not
really the "Average", but for the simple it's a good choice.

Sounds like a lot of back-peddling to me.

First you broadly say, Linux "does not work well
in a MS dominated shop," and then when I told you that it networks faster
for me than Vista does, you reply, "Many of my own customers run a Linux
and Windows solution for their servers because of licensing costs, but,
each has a strength and a weakness."

So Linux can "run well" with MS OSs.

It sounds to me that you are arguing with yourself, more than you are
arguing with me.

If I were using a distro for business purposes, I'd go with Red Hat or
Suse and pay for support.

I wouldn't use a development OS for my business.

LOL! So how do you know you wouldn't enjoy gaming more with an XBox or a
Playstation over a PC gaming platform?

Guessing?

I guess you know nobody that dual boots, huh?

And if you followed the link I provided earlier, there are modern games
that will play just fine on Linux.

The average computer users I know are simplistic in their computing
knowledge.

They are one in the same thing.

No, I didn't forget, but since you need it explained...

Public means you do not need to login with a username and password.

I really didn't think anyone in this newsgroup was so dense that they needed
me to define the only word that doesn't specify which product is being
discussed.

Hi, I was intrested in your comments. I am not being nasty or sarcastic. I
ask this because you seem to know much about Ubuntu/linux etc. What sort of
game can one find for those platforms. My kids are big gamers (ok, me 2) and
I want to get them interested in alternatives. Cheers.

Being that it is open to the "Public" means that more than just Vista
users are welcome here. This group is open to the entire computing
public that has access to the USENET.

Gee, I didn't think I would have to explain something as simple of a
concept as that.

Thanks, but I'm a relative Linux n00b.

Besides the games at the link I gave previously, you can check out this
list of games at:

http://games.cedega.com/gamesdb/

Plus most distros are loaded with games to download straight from the
repositories.

In the Ubuntu repository there are more than a hundred games to choose
from.

Nice! According to that site, each version has a different list of
compatible games. That's like saying what worked in Win 3.0 won't work in
Win 3.11 at all. LOL

It's not like I'm saying Linux is a better gaming platform than Windows,
because it's not, but there are tons of games for it.

But I'm more into using Linux for the peace of mind that its relative
security allows me while computing. Can't get that feeling in Windows
without cutting my computer's left nut off with some real-time AV running.
