That's what I give my accountant.

I trade on Tradeking, no problem.

Heck, my kid is taking programs to school for them to run, but not the
other way around.
She made her own livecd remaster for her science project this past
year...
In the 3rd grade.
See how simple Linux is to use? And useful?
If I really cared to run any proprietary garbage windows software, I
could, anyway,
with wine, crossover, or other tools for precisely said purpose.

I can run DVDs on my machine, no problem.
Of course, I own my own company, so we only provide software,
training, etc., in open formats that are cross-platform compatible.

I can view BBC multimedia content on my linux box.

Bah...I can purchase mp3 from amazon.com or other sources.
Why waste my time on iTunes?

Who's got time for games?
I work on my computer.
When my work is done, I'd prefer to go outdoors and play, thanks.

Try another Voip applications.
Duh.
Even skype runs on Linux.

I haven't used a MicroSlop product in 8 years.
I own my own company working in an industry that is largely dominated
by
proprietary software, yet, I manage all the file formats I need to
provide my
clients with the product they desire from me, without issues.
I save my company thousands of dollars a year in software licensing
costs,
not to mention headaches from viruses, crashes, stalls, etc., that
plague Windopes,
but never my Linux boxes.
My linux box performs all of the work other professional in my field
do, and does so more efficiently,
greater uptime, no viruses, no crashes, no intrusions, etc...And the
software doesn't cost me a penny!

Allow me to repeat myself:
I have not used a Micro$oft product in 8 years.
Every workstation, desktop, laptop, and server in my company
runs either Ubuntu or Linguas OS linux.
We're quite successful in our industry, too.
Heck, just the advantage of the savings no technology gives us an
edge,
since it keeps our overhead low and allows us to offer more
competitive pricing.

We wouldn't go back to Micro$lop is they paid us.

So, the two MAJOR satnav companies are linux based...
What was that about windows again?

For flatty, such a thing only happens when it's building up to a MAJOR
trolling session somewhere down the line, (when it's started saying nice
things about linux in order to snare people into thinking it'd turned over a
new leaf...)

Good luck on that.
Even things that start in COLA get crossposted the moment flatfish shoves
its oar in. (the latest in a long line of names flatfish has used is Moshe)

They did. Moshe is sending these messages through a time delayed mechanism
from between 1995 and 2006. (the delay varies, possible due to some orbit
somewhere)

I found a great mode in which to make windows work for power users. OFF.

Better let the Linux *advocates* in comp.os.linux.advocacy know that
because the majority of them earn their living using Windows.

Makes me wonder why if Linux is so great and Windows is so terrible
(according to them), they can't seem to earn a living with Linux.

I can only see positive comments about Linux, can't see anything bad
about it. Mind you, I've got the filter set to knock out you and your
boyfriend over there. Probably explains it.

What's that coming over the hill .... plonk ... he's gone.

You sound like the perfect Linux advocate!
Head buried in the sand....

Interesting posting history you have.
Amateur Radio and all....
We have another person, coincidently from your neck of the woods that has
similar interests...

Naaahhh
Couldn't be...

Or could it?

> What's that coming over the hill .... plonk ... he's gone.

That was Roy Schestowitz riding on top of Mark Kent.
From your comment it looks like Mar "Gasbag" Kent lost his charge again.
Oh well, time for a re-fill...

There are bad things in Linux, though there's also a lot of noise
in COLA, and presumably in the crossposted newsgroups as well.

The main ones? ALSA microphone audio handling. I've yet to get
it to work properly on any of my equipment. OSS had
no difficulties therewith. I can't say I've seen any freezes,
except for my winmodem which is a piece of junk anyway. I'm
not all that happy with ATi DRI/Xorg 1.4.2, but it's tolerable.
But 1.3 was more flicker-free, if buggy in other areas -- for
example, Nexuiz players were invisible. In 1.4.2 the display
is far weirder looking but at least I can see people to shoot at.

And yes, these are in Linux proper, as opposed to, say, suspect
PCLinuxOS GUI dialogs, which are somewhere in Gnome.

Followups reset exclusively to COLA.
