Apple has always advertised, and their product line has always been more
expensive, but that is the way that Steve Jobs wants it. Apple products are
not just a technology. They are a lifestyle.

You would expect Linux to grab a large share of the PC server market. It is,
after all, a child of UNIX. Microsoft will try to push their server
products, and why not? They are very good, and hold a good portion of the
market.

The computer companies could easily say no to Microsoft, but they don't.
They could load Linux distros on all OEM computers, but they don't. If you
were a computer manufacturer, would you take the chance?

Some said that XP would be a flop with its Fisher-Price desktop and lack of
default security. Vista is not the flop that you would like it to be, and it
will live on in Windows 7.

Free stuff doesn't need advertising. If it is good enough, word of mouth
will be more than enough. So why aren't Linux desktops outpacing Macs?

A FREE sideshow desktop OS and the much vaunted 24000 FREE programs should
do much better than they are doing, but the package lacks class and polish.

Ultimately, people will use what they feel happy using and what suits them
best, regardless of the ranting by Polly Parrot in Spain.

Also, some Windows users are availing themselves of open source stuff,
primarily in the form of Open Office. It installs in Windows just like any
other Windows based office suite would, requiring no technical prowess on
the part of the user. Until Linux distros for desktop reach this point, they
will always run third in the race.

Again, sigh, Mac was being discussed in the mainstream media back over
TWENTY FOUR YEARS AGO. Linux has made the scene in the mainstream media
less than TWO YEARS AGO. Can you bloody add and subtract or should we
