Well, count me as one that doesn't get these results.
I'm dual booting Vista and Ubuntu 7.10 and using any speed-test or simply
using my own eyes to watch the average rate I get about 600 KB/s, on either
OS.
Since my cable is a 6 Mb connection that's about what I expect to see.
On my other computer that's only running Gentoo I still see no added speed
for downloads.
You'll also notice that I post to these groups from a Windows machine,
that's because the other computers are for support only, I've tried going
100% Linux in the past and always find myself back in Windows due to the
fact that I just can't get all my work done using any Linux OS, including
Ubuntu, Red Hat, Gentoo (the one I like best) SuZe, and a few others that
I've tried, but that's just me, anyone that likes it, that's great, I'm not
going to try to convert anyone either way.
Use what works for you.
