Ubuntu gets 20% faster Internet download speeds compared to XP Pro and
30% faster if compared to the Vista virus.

Do you want to state under what circumstances that is or is it just more BS?

BTW I max out my 15M DSL connection on whatever OS I use so it certainly
isn't true for me.

I used the *same* machine that is dual booting XP and Gutsy. I have down
it dozens of times and the results are *always* the same, 20% faster
using Gutsy. I have another machine, dual booting XP and Feisty and it
gets the same results. I posted this on the Ubuntu group and everyone
there also gets the same results.

Well if everyone gets the same results I think its safe to put it down as
bull sh!t.
It would be near impossible for two to get the same results, for lots then
it has to be lies.

Well, count me as one that doesn't get these results.

I'm dual booting Vista and Ubuntu 7.10 and using any speed-test or simply
using my own eyes to watch the average rate I get about 600 KB/s, on either
OS.

Since my cable is a 6 Mb connection that's about what I expect to see.

On my other computer that's only running Gentoo I still see no added speed
for downloads.

You'll also notice that I post to these groups from a Windows machine,
that's because the other computers are for support only, I've tried going
100% Linux in the past and always find myself back in Windows due to the
fact that I just can't get all my work done using any Linux OS, including
Ubuntu, Red Hat, Gentoo (the one I like best) SuZe, and a few others that
I've tried, but that's just me, anyone that likes it, that's great, I'm not
going to try to convert anyone either way.

Use what works for you.

Well, not "exact" results but similar results. Whether you believe me or
not is not relevant as you never believe anything I say. When I posted
from Ubuntu, you accused me of modifying my headers which, of course, I
didn't do.

In short, bugger off.

Yep, it's true. Course, being as you are too dense to be able to install
Ubuntu, you'll never be able to test it and prove me wrong.

Oh, and you're the biggest liar this newsgroup has ever known, Frankie boy.

No need to prove anything to you because you're just a lying troll who

Now Honey, don't go spreading Lies

Son,

This is your Mother. I am sick and tired of you coming to this news group
and spreading lies about Ubuntu. Dad and I know you are obsessed with
Ubuntu. You won't even go outside and play with the neighborhood kids any
more. What are we to do?

Yes, I know you are in your late 50's, but you are still our kid. Honey,
save up some money and buy a car. Get out and stay away from the computer.

Love Mom

Well you do post cr@p that isn't true.
Take what you said above.. for it to be true you would have to have
blazingly fast broadband for the OS to make any difference.
I am not talking about 10M or 20M broadband but probably 40-50M.
Anything less and its the broadband speed you are measuring and it doesn't
vary with OS.

Actually, it could have to do with the driver for the network
interface. Sometimes the Linux driver works better with a certain card
than the Windows version. For other cards it's the other way around.

Type in commands? Have you actually tried Ubuntu? It has a modern
desktop interface which works very much like Windows. I am using Vista
right now and I'm quite pleased with it. I have Ubuntu also on here. It
does not feel like going 5 years back. However, it is different, but
still good.

One does not exclude the other. Use what works for you and do not try
to justify your preference by ragging on something a lot of people use
and like.
