1. Are you sure about that my Aussie friend??? :bunny::rotf:
2. Yuppers, but I never lost a HD. I might post a thread on sfc /scannow latter. I run that just to make sure all my files haven't been corrupted and are still in tact! My computer vocabulary leaves a lot to be be desired sometimes.:(:( sfc /scannow checks the authenticity of the system files and replace the files that have been "fiddled" with. :big_ha:
3. Hi @allheart55 (Cindy E) You are probably right. It's a old habit from running XP. When I had XP chkdsk would find problems and fix them. I still like seeing the message that no bad sectors were found after running chkdsk. Just makes me fell better.;);)
4. Hi! Why are there robots on our forum?? Why are there so many of them? Are they:popcorn: here spying?? Some times we have more robots than visitors and members.
5. I have read that for maintenance you should run a chkdsk once a month. Here's mine and a Zip file at the bottom showing you how to find the chkdsk log. All comments are always welcome for discussion. This is what I've read about chkdsk. It makes sense to run chdsk /r from time to time to scan for bad sectors which occur also on modern hardware. This takes a lot of time as the entire disk is read. When CHKDSK finds bad sectors it will log the affected files to the system log so you know which files are damaged. Once bad sectors are found on a disk it is likely to fail soon and copying all valuable data off it ASAP is a good idea. 6. I guess I'm getting in a hurry with my how to's. I guess they can be moved later! Did you try it??
7. Hi I never know where to post these threads. I guess they can be moved if there's a better place. I'm a clean up freak. I just don't like trash on my PC. Have you ever had documents in word pad that weren't there any more but still showed up there. Here's a easy way to get rid of them! Hope this works for you!! You can delete it after using it if you want. I just leave it and use it again.Works for me!! To Reset and Clear All "Recent documents" in WordPad with a REG File 1. Click on the Download button below to download the file below.Reset_and_Clear_WordPad_Recent_Documents_List.reg 2. Click on Save, and save the .reg file to the Desktop. 3. Right click on the downloaded .reg file and click on Merge. 4. Click on Run, Yes, Yes, and OK when prompted. 5. If WordPad is open, then close and reopen it to apply. 6. When done, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
8. Hi! Mate! Glad to see you. We do more than just talk about malware here (24/7) and you can be yourself here. I haven't been chewed out yet and you know how I am:D Jack done me a big favor Mate. Tell him donetao said thanks.:yikes: I'm sure you will fit in nicely on Free PC Help Forum. Watch out for @DSTM :watch: We now have two Aussie's on the forum. Only one Okie that I know of!! Looks like I'm out numbered. :omg:
9. Hey @Frogboy Glad to see you Mate. Shane also makes a great CD to repair Windows! I think the work is still in progress. http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html
10. Hi I can hold my own if I'm playing on a level playing field. :help:
11. Heineken will do just fine if I can add a little tomato juice! Thanks @DSTM ;);) I had forgotten how good SPECCY was. Thanks for forcing me to down load it again!:D:D
12. Do I get a beer yet my friend??
13. I'm trying my friend! Is this what you want??? I try to please!:D:D
14. Hi Looks Good to me my friend.
15. I do not have SPECCY on my PC at this time. I'm using Belarc Advisory. Will see what it's showing and get back with you !! Sorry friend I do not see the info you asked for. I could down load SPECCY if you want!!
16. I just know I have a quad core. The attachment just says CPU temps. I'm assuming Toshiba knows what it's doing. SpeedFan shows all 4. My lap top never feels hot and I can just barely hear the fan. I do feel warm air from the vents, so I know my fan is working. This old Toshiba is going on 4 years with just minor problems. You can't ask for more than that.:D:D I rarely shut it down!
17. Thanks @DSTM My Toshiba monitors my temps and fans!;) Never hurts to have a second opinion. My PC never runs hot. You can feel a lap top and know if it's hot!
18. MBAM will get it sorted out. Nearly every software was BETA at some point in time!;);) https://press.malwarebytes.org/
19. Thanks! How is it better than SpeedFan?? I need to be convinced before I switch!:D I don't like this!! Yes pop ups really bother me a lot!!
20. I have no problem with those. They are all good programs!! WOT is a excellent ad-on for browsers! Adblock is also a good ad--on program. I have both of them! I have never been infected by malware!!
21. Popular software programs contain millions of line of code. Bad guys exploit flaws (vulnerabilities) in the code to deliver malware. Except when they can't. Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit wraps four layers of security around popular browsers, preventing exploits from compromising vulnerable code. Not an antivirus, but compatible with most antivirus, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit is a small, specialized shield designed to protect you against one of the most dangerous forms of malware attacks. And it's free.
22. Hummm! I have not seen that and I have installed it on several seniors PC's here at Golden Oaks. I also have it installed on my own PC. It's just another layer of prtection for your browsers! Are you sure it's still BETA?? Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out!! Mine is still working!
23. :):):DWell that won't be very long! :big_ha:
24. Those are both great programs. Thanks @Rich-M
25. Do you have the down load link?? What does it offer more than SpeedFan?? Thanks @Rich-M
