i have connected a pendrive that contains an autorun virus, after that my computer is displaying chain of windows update shortcut on taskbar in long chain like format and repeatedly coming on taskbar. how can i fix this problem? and i cannot download and install the latest updates? I'm using proxifire from iran ( i have to ) form 5 days ago after getting latest update i got problem in using firefox , IE both stop working i found how to solve it temperoryly by adding run as adminstarator in IE and firefox properties . but as u know because of user account control io should confirm thire running after this change i think last update changed something about permissones , any way to get ride of this problem . This update I think has something to do with Microsoft Security Essentials which I have Installed. However when I run MSE it stops partway through and always at CWINDOWSSYSTEM32|Commtsadmin.tlb. Are they linked in some way? I am using Windows XP Home Edition. Also I cannot uninstall MSE through Add or Remove Programs. Any help would be gratefully accepted. View this thread

I was printing fine from this laptop. Then I went to print and I got an error message re the print spooler. I tried to add printer and go the message "Windows can't open Add Printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine." I tried rebooting, but that changed nothing. I found print spooler in "Services". It's set on automatic, but is stopped. When I click on "start", I get an error message 1053 saying "the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". Please help. Samsung Chronos 7 i5 processor running windows 8 with Classic Shell to force desktop mode. Since applying 2 Intel updates around a month ago, when machine comes out of hibernation, it asks for "you must restart your computer to apply these changes". If I restart it then comes back with the same message. This time if I restart the message doesn't appear. So two restarts required to clear the message. I have often checked the update history and usually no update has been applied. Have tried turning off automatic updates but problem still there. Have run windowsupdate.diagcab which showed 2 problems but seemed to fix them (next run showed no problems). View this thread

Since the 21st the same updates have been installed on shut down. I have run the trouble shooter and nothing seems to be the problem. The following link is a screenshot of the "View Update History" of the continuous update and also from the last successful one. http://i44.tinypic.com/xfoizr.jpg I am at a loss of what to do. Rather than create individual Live IDs for each of the 7 PCs in a small company, in order to install Office 2013, can we install 7 copies of Office 2013 using a single Live ID? (each copy of Office 2013 is licenced individually, not bought through VLSC). Or, is there a better way to install several copies of Office 2013 in an organisation (that does not want to buy Volume Licencing, they just want to buy individual copies)? View this thread

Every time I power up, I get an error message inviting me to send it to Microsoft. It says "Some unexpected errors have happened to software you recently used." The message for MS is always the same: "The error report contains the following file: NDP1.1sp1_KB2742597_X86_wrapper.log version.txt" When I switch the computer off, there is always an update to download, which I have assumed is meant to deal with the error. I installed Bing Desktop when it was first released and didn't see any benefit of having it. Since then, I have always hidden that update in Windows Update on all my own computers as well as the ones that I maintain for family members and my office at work. I find it very annoying that the update never stays hidden when I check optional updates usually after waiting at least a month between checks on many of those computers. I choose to hide it again, but it has reappeared over and over on so many different computers. I have noticed this on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines. The only other optional updates that I hide are additional language packs and I have rarely seen those optional updates reappear after hiding them. If I do see them again, it is usually after some major repair, so it doesn't really surprise me. What is going on with the Bing Desktop update that won't let it stay hidden? View this thread
