Windows 7 will be in stores on October 22 – that much we're sure of. But the fact is that the next generation of Windows isn't officially finished yet. Microsoft is still putting on the finishing touches before passing off a final gold master that ultimately kick-starts a whole new wave of Windows. According to various reports on the web from Geeksmack and Neowin, sources close to Microsoft can supposedly confirm that Windows 7 is set to hit its RTM (release to manufacturing) milestone on July 13. It's unlikely that Microsoft will confirm any of this information until after the milestone is hit (in case there is some type of show stopper bug) so we'll just have to wait and see. Hitting RTM will allow Microsoft to disseminate the final version of Windows to its computer-making partners for even broader testing and integration, with the goal of having all OEMs ready to sell Windows 7-loaded computers on October 22. Even as close as Microsoft is to RTM the leaked builds still show up in the wild.

I hope to use this commmunity to share knowledge with other Windows 8 users once it goes into beta. I also own a network of tech related sites. Windows 8 Forum is the newest addition to the network.

I used Vista. Got a free copy because I tested it and while I liked it I always thought it wasn't complete. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been if Microsoft hadn't rushed it out the door.

I've been using Windows 7 as primary OS for a while now. If I were you I would use Windows 7 and ditch Vista.

That is good news. I also heard European countries will get it without Internet Explorer installed by default.

The same loophole left for a clean install with an upgrade disk in Vista does in fact work with Windows 7. I did it to test it and it does work.

There is a way. I have never researched how to do it since I never shutdown my servers. A server is supposed to run 24/7. Why would you want to shut it down?

Sure it is possible. People flock to new things. What you should ask is will it keep the people on the site.

Open a command prompt and type: Hit enter. Now uncheck users are required to log on. Enter the admin password. That's it.

The only time I have seen the advanced options not available was when the partitions on the drives were where created with Linux or and Unix variant. Maybe try formating the drive with Seatools and try the install again.

You need to do this from in Windows Vista. There is another way to it with XP and I haven't had time to write up that one.

Can you format the new drive in computer manager? The only time I've ever seen that error is when the drive was formatted on another box and then added to the server. I could format it however.

It will support 4 processors not cores.

Yes t does. Use server mamanger to add the email rolls to the server.

I have noticed that happening. I use speech recognition exclusively with Vista, in fact this is being posted verbally, and I don't experience that problem.

Start the XP install from cd and then use the tools in the install to remove and format the partition.

I've had this happen to me. The only thing you could do is to setup a UPS on the server and/or the gateway. That is how I cured the problem.

You shouldn't have any problems installing on that board.

It could be a bug. I'll see if I can reproduce it.

I wouldn't think it would be possible. maybe someone else knows for sure.
