I have just recovered from a corrupted catalogue in Lightroom4.4 (LR4.4). I have recently upgraded from Version 3 of Lightroom (LR3). I run a windows 7 Home 64 bit PC. My photos are on a local disk (G:). I have a system of cloning my discs to an external hard drive using Folderclone which runs automatically at certain times of the day. I have been using folderclone for ages and on this system for almost exactly a year since I reinstalled Windows 7. Folderclone was running - cloning the G drive - at the time the problem occurred. Both it and LR4.4 highlighted disc problems. Under LR3 I have run both at the same time but had to cease photo-editing as it was so slow (but obviously safe!). I have just returned from a long holiday on 8 April and have applied 13 windows updates since 10 April, 5 of them on 12 April (IE10, MS Keyboard software update released Dec 2012, Nvidia HD Audio device update released July 2012, Nvidia driver update for Geforce GTX 560Ti and Platform update KB2670838). Since applying the 12 April updates, every time I boot up I have had Disk checks run on my C drive (SSD) and H drive (local but not the same physical disc as the G drive) but no errors have been highlighted. This just wasn't happening before the Windows updates. It looks to me like the two programs have tried to access the same information and something has become corrupted as a result. Obviously this shouldn't happen and I would expect Windows to prevent it. However it didn't. The obvious questions are about a) Windows itself and the recent updates, b) LR4.4 as there have been instances of catalogue corruption being reported. I would be grateful if you could provide any information on this problem (ie are there are any known issues which would cast light on why this problem occurred) and what I can do to prevent a re-occurrence. I am backing up the LR4.4 catalogue more frequently than I would normally in the meantime. I have also asked for information from the Adobe Lightroom forum. Thanks. View this thread

Odd behavior. First of all it wouldn't see the msi file where it was at. Then after deleting everything, making sure no other antivirus is on the machine (Gateway laptop running Win7), it tries to install but I get a 70645 installation error. Have tried a lot of the FixIt tools about installations and updates, running a few commands to get access to desktop and program. View this thread

Despite using the search engines and the forum search I cannot find anything about this of any use.Having installed MSSE I find it has disabled File backups from Control Panel. So is there a fix for this please anybody? I'm getting tired of doing it manually and there is always a chance I could lose important data if I forget.Presumably this prog was tested by MS before release so it would have been nice to have been forewarned of possible problems. MSSE appears to do a good job on security it will be a pity to have to uninstall it because of this issue.Thanks guys View this thread

Cloned hard drive to larger hard drive and replaced in laptop. Everything worked fine until I was prompted to reactivate Windows Vista Ultimate (32bit), which I did by phone. Now Windows Update is not working - service is not active. Is this a known problem? Any suggestions to correct would be appreciated. Ran Malewarebytes, Turned off automatic Update and then restarted (suggested in a forum), and tried repair with installation disk, none of these has worked yet. View this thread

While installing automatic windows update my Windows Live Mail calendar became corrupted. Message prompted to retry. I clicked on retry and it didn’t work. Then I klicked on abort and it didn't work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit edition with Service Pack 1, and I've discovered two items in Windows Update that fail every time I try to install them. One is "Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1" (KB2565057), which at least lets me know the installation failed with error code 0x80070643. The other is "Security Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 XML Editor (KB2251487)", which seems to hang after a while, and I have to do a System Restore to a point before I tried to install that update in order to ensure my system's stability. I have had to hide both of these important system updates.Today, I installed the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) in hopes that this would at least fix my problem with KB2251487, but that was no help -- I had to do the System Restore act once again.I was left with only one recourse: To be rid of these problematic updates for good, I had to uninstall Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2010. However, upon looking at my Programs and Features list in the Windows 7 Control Panel, I discovered a major problem: Neither of those programs were installed on my computer! So my question is this: Why is Windows Update still offering critical updates to programs I no longer have installed on my computer, and what, if anything, can I do to work around this problem, besides merely hiding the troublesome updates? Hey there. So, I've been having this problem on an off since I've installed Win 8, and it's beginning to drive me insane. When I turn on the computer, my mouse pointer is perfectly visible on the lock screen. As soon as I unlock it, however, the pointer goes invisible. And it's not because pointer shadowing is on. I've tried that - going on and off - it does nothing. My problem is actually identical to this one -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMc5EBYs3p0 I guess this is more of a plea to microsoft. Please fix this bug, it's absolutely crucial to my use of a computer to be able to see the pointer. (Okay that last bit may have been over the top, but you get what I mean!) I have a windows 7, and every hour or two I get a message in my (Solve PC issues: messages). This message keeps saying that i need to change windows update settings. Right now I have my settings set to Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them. This isn't that big of an issue but it's really annoying to see this. View this thread

The webcam.exe file pathway has overwritten to just about every other .exe file path. Also, a good portion of the icons have also been changed to the webcam icon. The original file path for each application is still there, it's just that the webcam pathway has been written in front of the original pathway. I have a Windows 7 and I am unable to run windows updates. I receive error code 80070057. I have tried renaming the softwaredistribution folder as suggested in other responses form here and that did not work. I have also tried the fix it application and that did not work even though it says the issue is fixed when complete. What else can be done to resolve this issue without re-imaging the PC? I am getting the &quotlow disk space&quot message on drive C and have used disk cleanup with minimal results. It shows 1.04 GB in &quotTempory Files&quot but although this box is checked this space is not freed. There is 55.6 GB on drive C and only 500 MB free.
