Connecting to my Win XP (SP3) computer via RDP (Win7 RDP client Win XP RDP server) crashes XP (BSOD, 0x1000007E) upon copy/paste operation.I want to update to the latest rdpdr.sys, because that's what the BSOD says is the problem.The latest rdpdr.sys (I can find) is from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978787/en-us, version 5.1.2600.5950BUT, there is no download button, no hotfix. Before I rebooted, my Windows Update would not work. After I rebooted, it still won't work. I'm trying to install a Chinese language pack, so my computer will be able to read Chinese. in my Windows 7 computer, Windows Media Player is set to play .mid and .midi files. When i try to play the file, it says there is a problem with the sound device however, it WMP plays videos, mp3 files with perfect sound. Registry setting for midioutID is set to default audio device with data 0xffffffff. I have deleted the media database and allowed it to repopulate but still no sound. All settings match another computer with windows 7 that will play midi files. What is wrong? View the thread

Hello, I am having a problem with my CD Drive reader. Whenever I try to load a disk (any disk) it does not appear in the Active Device directory. When I go to the Device Manager, and try to fix it using the troubleshooter, this comes up as a result. There is a problem with the driver for CD-ROM Drive. I maintain a Java applet that is locally deployed on computers not under my control, for which I've recently gotten a code signing certificate. Unfortunately, the Windows 7 computer I'm on (as well as several others I'm aware of) doesn't recognize the Go Daddy root certificate authority (Go Daddy Class 2 Certification Authority Root Certificate - G2, with SHA1 thumbprint 47:BE:AB:C9:22:EA:E8:0E:78:78:34:62:A7:9F:45:C2:54:FD:E6:8B).From http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931125 however, it appears that Windows will examine an unfamiliar root certificate (scroll to "More information" / "How Windows updates root certificates" / "Windows Vista and Windows 7"). I've seen this happen with an https/ssl request, but I can't make this happen when I download my applet.How can I force my computer to update its root certificates, in steps simple enough that I can tell my users to do that as well?Thanks View this thread

I am running windows 7 64 bit home premium. My antivirus is MSE.I have not had problems with updating before. The updates of 10/4/13 were all fine apart from KB 2808735. I get error message 80070026.I have tried going to Microsoft downloads and doing it manually. I have done system restore and downloaded each separately. All the others are fine but not that one. I have run the Fixit which says it has repaired update, but it still does not install. I think it may be an installation problem as when trying to install, it seems to download and then moves to 'installing' before it says 'failed'?I noticed in reliability monitor that I was also having frequent Firefox.exe failures. So I uninstalled FF and all the bits of it, and tried again, still no good. (I have now reinstalled FF so we will see if at least I may have solved that one!)Advice gratefully received! I recently upgraded an XP system to Windows 7 (custom build) and after a few days I started seeing the NTFS 55 errors telling me that my file system structure was corrupt and unusable. Running chkdsk (no fix/repair) finds no errors. Running chkdsk with all repair options turned on (including looking for bad blocks) finds no errors except for an error about the MFT and free space. The system is running fine – no problems – but these errors are unnerving. All Windows 7 updates are loaded When I first did the upgrade I was getting a volsnap 25 error on every reboot, wiping out my restore points. This was fixed by creating an unfragmented pagefile. This might not be relevant except that it also involves the shadow copy area. These NTFS errors often occur when nothing in particular is going on, and often after coming out of sleep mode. Here are the System Log events immediately prior to the NTFS errors. It appears that the Volume Shadow Copy service is always starting just prior to these errors. I’ve allocated 20GB to system protection, and this space was finally filled up on 4/20. My restore points look fine. In fact, when I check my restore points I can create a sequence that results in a single NTFS event ID 55 error. It would certainly look like these NTFS errors are strongly correlated with the Shadow Copy service. Since chkdsk never finds any problems with the disk, should I assume that these NTFS errors are bogus? Would it help (or at least be interesting) if I deleted everything in the shadow copy area (System -&gt System protection -&gt Configure), rebooted and started fresh? I’m running Norton security suite. I’m also using Macrium Reflect for backups, although I’ve not seen any NTFS errors before or during backups. Thoughts or suggestions?
