  1. That message is really useless... Nothing in event viewer? The only thing you can try is to recheck all settings ... In most cases that message is related to sysvol which isn't shared.. But you've already check that.
  2. I had the same issue months ago. You have to repair or reinstall windows server. I'm telling you that because after investigating for days, I didn't found any other solution.
  3. Well, you could manually remove the driver... but things may go from bad to worse... Download any LiveCD (ubuntu, debian, what you want), and you should see the C:\ drive and yours partitions. From there you could remove the driver (but you must know the name). Best thing should be backup the data (from live cd you can make a copy and paste) and then reinstall everything because just remove a file doesn't mean you resolve the problem.
  4. Dumb question... are yours clients and server on the same domain? Because a GPO can operates only in domain...
  5. Let's try this: Backup your registry. go to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\LSA Add a new REG_WORD value with this name: RestrictAnonymous Edit value to 2. Reboot and retry. Uh, what happens if you run from the client this command: \\server1\c$ Thanks.
  6. Yes, your're right regarding MBT (my mistake). It sounds like a corrupted driver...
  7. Using the server's cd - rom, boot from it and rebuild the MBR (fixmbr). If you start in safe mode, does it work?
  8. So, let's start from the beginning. Remove the share and be sure you can't access to it in any way. Once ok, re-share with a different name. Let me know.
  9. Yes, it's quite easy. Right click on the desired OU > DELEGATE CONTROL Select the users / groups you want to delegate control Then you can select basic tasks (like password resetting) or create your own. Once you are finished, you can check the permissions on that OU and you should see users / groups with the right permission. let me know.
  10. Ok, maybe I have the solution... http://www.ehow.com/how_6826812_disable-login-network-share-folders.html
  11. Just to be sure... the "net use /delete" must be executed on the CLIENT not on the server... Anyway, check the permissions on the folder (both sharing and security), if not sure post a screenshot. If you can, try to restart your server (this will flush the cache). Let me know.
  12. Uhm... you mean you wanna stream a video? Add flashplayer... http://animation.about.com/od/flashanimationtutorials/qt/embedswfwebpage.htm
  13. You have to remove cached network credentials: open a command prompt and type: net use This will show you persistent / temporary connection. Now from the same command prompt type: net use /delete This will delete the cached credentials. Let me know.
  14. Let me know if you've resolved.
  15. I don't think this is strange... it sounds like a sync is not working properly. Can't you reinstall the whole DC?
  16. Reinstall a DC is not a big job :P Anyway, you could try the second solution found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/205100 But I think you already tried :( If you want you can try this (IT`S JUST AN IDEA - NEVER TESTED): Remove the WINS service / future, remove every folder related to WINS (C:\...), try to reinstall WINS feauture and let me know.
  17. Ahahah that's funny :D Well maybe something has saved some settings to point elsewhere from your desktop... Thanks for posting the resolution!
  18. Yours clients can receive an IP or not? Because when you talk about LAN 1 and 2 I assume they're different LAN with different IPs. That means if you have a router in the middle, you must enable a DHCP Relay to forward broadcast request. When you receive the error "the domain doesn't exist........" usually is because the sysvol folder is not shared. Take a look here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283133
  19. If you have 2 domain controllers, don't waste your time... if you don't have a backup I simply suggest you to remove that DC from domain and reinstall everything. Trust me, it's the better thing you can do. Anyway, if you uninstalled WINS, why do you want to re-install them?
  20. it sounds like an update (windows or driver) which has corrupted something...
  21. That's strange... Is this a fresh install? If yes, did you installed all needed drivers? In the computer management console, do you see any exclamation mark? Are you sure you don't installed anything (updates, framework, service pack, ...)? This problem just came up a day?
  22. 1) This happens with EVERY program installed? For example notepad? 2) Create a local or domain user account, logon with its credentials and tell me if you get the same issue. 3) Can you see something in eventviewer? To create a user, open the command prompt and type: net user MyNewUser password MyPass /Active:yes Let me know.
  23. I think this is not really true... saving energy is made by driver and this COULD happen with network cards when they aren't in use. External HD are usually not affected because of the program which is using that device, locks it. Anyway, that option is normally involved when your system is a notebook and the battery goes low. If you want to know a bit more regarding this option, take a look here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff566341(VS.85).aspx
  24. Mhhhh the only solution (for me), could be a reinstall (or at least a repair). I have no other idea... sorry.
  25. Hi there, I think this happens to each workstation, if so you could exclude a workstation's problem. Anyway, first of all check the workstation's DNS setting, sometime it's the problem for slow logins. When windows stuck on "applying computers settings" normally you could have two problems: - network issue (misconfiguration or something broken) - "software" issue (corrupted profile) You could try this tool to check the profile: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=1B286E6D-8912-4E18-B570-42470E2F3582&displaylang=en Let me know if this help.
