$50?!?! Yikes! There are many other free AV products that can do a better
job than McAfee. Good to know you've switched to another (better) AV
product. Hope it works well. Thanks for taking the time to post an update.

I saw your information about the Avast AntiVir so I downloaded it. It froze
up my computer. I couldn't get into any programs, emails or icons. I mean
this was completely froze up. Luckily I have 2 computers. I found help on
the other computer how to delete the mess I had.
My question would be "how to download the a/v without my computer freezing
up?
I currently have ESET antivirus, but it's about to expire.
Also I have SpyBot Search and Destroy which asked me a lot of questions
about whether to let this a/v on my system. I said yes to all. Not sure if
that was the right thing to do or not.

You probably got a bad download. Try a fresh copy of Avast! (or Antivir
which is a different program). Avast! should alert you that it can't
run while the other is installed, or running. Disable ESET and see if
Avast! works. If so, remove ESET.

Why won't it allow 'Windows Defender' to stay loaded?
