BTW, the system is most likely infected with a Vundo/Virtumonde variant.

Scan the system for the presence of malware:

IF variants of Vundo are present, save the report according to the
tutorial. Then seek assistance at a reputable anti-malware forum.

IF, after the system has been cleaned up, you find that the Automatic
Update service can not start, download and SAVE:

Automatic Updates and WindowsUpdate Reset tool

The download link is at the bottom. After the download finishes close
ALL open browers and programs. Run au_client_toolv77a_redist.exe and
then restart the system.
