Post your Desktop

Webshots shutdown as Webshots last year pissing me off big time. I had all the installers and over 3000 photos so I just kept using it. They went on to be "Smile" a lousy copy of various photo print websites shutting down all their old services. I saved out my photos and before they shut down they also permitted you to change your portfolio to normal jpegs for use also which I did so if either of you want the install or any libraries I have them.

I have to tell you a funny story, I always put Webshots on every computer I refurbish or build and I have made sales based on it being there and when they screw it up I go out on service calls to fix what they did to it so it is more than great looking, it makes me money. But the funniest of all was a local Boro who I sold a refurbished desktop to the sanitation dept. When I was installing it the Boro Secretary was looking over my shoulder and began asking me questions about the animal pictures. I told her what it was. She then asked me if I could put that on her desktop and I said "sure" when I am done here. Then she said but "it will be gone when I get my new Dell desktop in January". I said "I can come out and put it back on for you ", I said. Then she says "can I buy a desktop from you?". I said "yes, and when I gave you the bids for refurbished I also gave you a bid for new custom desktop as well last week". Oh, she said "I didn't understand that I guess."
A few minutes later she comes back over she asks me if I can beat $1100 and hands me the Dell invoice. I said "I offered you a better system then that for under $700 last month". "Ok I am going to get council to cancel this sale and buy yours but it will have this desktop in it right?" "Do you want me to give you a new estimate" I asked? "No, I won't need that", she said. That wound up being the desktop, a new monitor, and a laser printer before it was over. But it didn't end there. Every week for a few weeks I got calls from her sister, best friend, brother, nephew and one council member all of which wound up with new custom systems built and sold. All insisted they would only buy them with the Webshots desktop on them and I explained I put it on everything I build anyway. The tax collector had been my client for years and using the refurbished one when she was in the office once a week pushed her to order a newer desktop also, not because of Webshots though and she was due.

Back in the day I enjoyed webshots too and I got tons of compliments with the 3D wallpapers I had designed in Bryce. Those were all deleted.I still have a few though I no longer make walls. About what you install on customers PC's yeah I agree they can become very enamored by what you install on their new PC's. I install a few extra's as well.

My client systems should have every possible function doable. Free like Cd Burner XP and Irfanview are always onboard as is Win Patrol, Mse and Mbam Free and Open Office. Atf Cleaner and Siw are there for me as well as jv16 Tools, Wot, Adblock Plus on all browsers and there are always 2. Of course Java and Adobe Flash and Reader Auto Defrag/

I know you were concerned about open slots by 98% of mine have either Apu video or onboard video and sound. Some of the better units have Video Cards but really there is nothing else to add to them. I can't think of the last time I filled a pci or pci-X slot in a client unit while I do use them on mine occasionally. Right now on the Msi system I am using almost every slot available but that is the first time that has been true even for me in years. I used to add a pci-x Intel gigabit Ethernet card but I don't even bother with that any more. Of course I didn't realize I could use the second big pci-x slot for anything and do now thanks to William here. Hey that is why we all do this.

Well concerning intel gigabit NIC's, realtek NIC's are about as good, and just as reliable. I'll give you the onboard sound bit though I prefer sound cards just like you, because as I posted in TSF onboard sound even the best doesn't compare to a decent sound card especially if you are using good speakers and higher end headsets. Your APU really does have stunningly good graphics though I have built a few of those myself, and your R9 280x is primarily a gamer card or mining card I believe it's a bit faster than the older HD 7950 and nearly on part with an HD 7970, but even if you aren't a gamer it's really nice to have.

Hello Adriana. The Way I do it is by just hitting the Prtsc/SysRq key (print screen). Then paste it into paint. Save it as a JPEG to somewhere (I usually use desktop or my docs/pictures) then upload it to a free hosing service like this one-

http://tinypic.com/

Once the image has been uploaded the easiest way to post it here is so right click the image - select "copy" and simply "paste" (or control/V) it into the message/reply box here you should see it.

That's a matter of opinion but Realtek vs Intel, not not on my side would I ever buy that. Intel cards never die.
Yeah the R280 has marvelous graphics and I really do appreciate it. It seemed for quite a few years the onboard sound was getting better and better and all of a sudden it went down hill again and not sure exactly when or why.

That's a lotta' moo, Dougie.

I ended up opting for a Radeon HD 7800 series Sapphire/PC Partner instead as I only Photoshop and never play games.
Some things are reasonable here and some very expensive compared to the US.
A galaxy GTX780 TI 3GB5 HOF Super OC costs $799. Must be cheaper in the US surely.

I will check tomorrow, Rich.
Best thing I bought for the latest build was the Tower ( Coolmaster HAF X ) Brilliant and so much space.
Like the Sata Docks in the front cover. Don't have to take the side panel off as much.
