My Vista Experience.

I have been reading the posts to find some fixes to Vista B version.
One thing I keep seeing through the posts is most of the issues are coming
from Vista Home versions. As I have not ran Home only Vista Ultimate 64bit
and it runs like a champ and now Vista Business on a Domain with Admin perms
all seems to be working. The apps I have run into in the office with
compatibility issues I have ran in compatibility mode as XP and they work
just fine. I have been a bit surprise that some of them do but I have found
some really good info in the posts.
The only thing that I don’t like at the moment is the remove of my network
places in explore and when you click networks it shows the whole domain
that’s a pain. Many of the issue sound the same as when XP came out and the
home version has many things stripped out. I have never been a big fan of
Home versions. I also understand that we tend to get stuck with these
versions and you have to run what you have and make the best of it. I have to
agree I have never been a big AOL fan as it just seems it has been in only my
experience very problematic. Have no view on the current version have not had
to support it in a while. Remember if you install any of the Anti
Virus\Security software that Vista does have Firewall and Defender running
could possibly cause too many security settings. Just my opinion. I do work
in the IT field but I am just a humble tech and tend to learn from everyone
by just watching.

> im getting error code 8000B0I00 an so not savvy on all this and, have not been able to update for 4 months, the tech tells me i need to reformat. its there problem and they expect me to pay to have it reformatted. vista is a nightmare !!!!!!

I think that in this case, especially if your PC isn't booting, you
probably do need to reformat.

Don't waste too much time on the phone with Microsoft tech support as
they employ the tiered tag team method of exhausting your patience
over days and weeks of talk and toil.
Then they will tell you to reformat anyway.

I would look at this as an opportunity to bite the bullet and upgrade
to XP..
You will never regret it.
First I would buy a second HD for backup. (everyone needs one anyway).
and then using your Vista disk, do a repair bootup to DOS, then backup
all your files to the second drive.

Then, format and install XP on the first drive.
