Hello!

Is anyone else having problems installing this speific KB937287 update?
I am unable to get it to stop showing up in my 64-bit Vista UE's Windows
Update even though it was a success. All other today's updates were fine
except one (KB937287 failed) and then rebooted, but now KB937287 keeps
showing up even after successful installs.

Someone else noticed this too:

Thank you in advance. :)

Yep, I'm also using Vista Ultimate 64 and I'm seeing the same. After
supposedly installing it 3 times I've simply hidden the update.
Hardly satisfactory but gets rid of the annoyance.

Rightclick the Command Prompt, and click 'run as administrator' at the
prompt type:

systeminfo

Is it reported as installed? If so, you can do a custom install after
turning off automatic update, and tell it to 'not ask' again.

Phillip,

I'm having the same problem. Initially the update installation failed. I
rebooted, redownloaded it, and it said it was installed successfully. I
wasn't paying attention and another update came up (the same one) and again
it reports that it installed fine. It again prompted for the same update to
be installed. I checked the list of installed updates and KB937287 is not
present among the others. I also looked for the update via Mark's suggestion
but it is again not present.

No idea what the deal is.

Exactly the same problem here (Vista Ultimate 64-Bit). Hope there will be
some solution for this problem. I do not want to install vista again because
of a damaged update..

Add me to the list.

Had 12 updates queued up, 11 succeeded but KB937287 failed. On reboot it
queued for update, I applied it, it succeeded, then 2 minutes later it wanted
to get applied again.

Restart doesn't clear it.

Same problem here, Vista Home Premium x64.

Had 13 updates, 12 seemed to install fine and got the red error that
KB937287 failed, so rebooted as required anyway and went back to
download/install again but am experiencing the same as everyone else here.

Oh well, no doubt there will be a patch for this patch soon! :-)

Hello "Phillip Pi":
I am getting the same update showing as not installed after two tries
also. I am running Vista Ultimate 64 bit with an Intel Quadcore cpu and after
the second installation attempt it said to restart and after okaying the
re-start it shut down and the re-start failed leaving me a black screen.
After waiting 30 minutes I gave up and shutdown the computer. When I
re-started the pc, it went thru the normal please wait while it configures
the update, then started up normally but is asking for me to install the same
darn update for the third time. I don't think your problem is with your
system it's probably a problem with the update itself and Microsoft will
undoubtedly come up with a revised version in due time. I am definitely not
going to install that update on my other Vista pc for a while though!

Interesting... my machine is also an Intel quad core (Q6600). Coincidence?

Although on this workstation the patch shows up as successfully applied,
over and over and over.

This fixed it for me:
1. Download the update. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Visit the Microsoft Download Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads)
b. In the Search for a download box, type the number of the Knowledge Base
article that describes the update, and then click Go.
c. Download the update, and then save it to the desktop.

2. Install the update. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Double-click the downloaded file to install it.

If you are prompted to restart the computer, do so.
b. Visit the Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web site to verify whether
the update is offered again. If you are offered the update again, continue to
the next step.

Yep, manual patching fixes it.

Interesting that it appears as an 18k update in WU but a 9mb direct
download. The WU patch must be a preloader...

Thanks Harolds

Hi "Harolds":
I took a look at the Microsoft Download Web site for KB937287and it is
listed as 9.6 MBs. On my updates notification window KB937287 that didn't
install correctly is showing as 18kb!!! I hestitate to download and install
an update of 9.6 MBs if most of it is scrambled up somewhere in my operating
system! Why the difference in the size of the download? Any idea?

Same problem here with Vista Business 63-bit.

Doing this procedure fixed the problem.

It seems to be a long thread. it is possible that someone has already
suggested to look into this link. If not, then try it. It is MS TechNet. I
did not read it carefully but the last posted said that "that did the
trick."
