What operating system came with this computer?
Have you asked Dell about Windows Vista support for the Ethernet
controller?
The 530 series comes with Windows Vista, I am unsure what the "N" in
your model means.

You may have issues Dell should deal with.

So your Brand New Dell doesn't recognize the NIC using Ubuntu which CAME
with your computer?

Maybe you should wipe your system clean, and install Windows 2008 Server and
forever be done with Ubuntu, Vista, and the vista.general group!

I Have No Problems With It Running Windows Server 2008 June CTP, Just FYI.

What My Problem Is The Fact That The Internet Does Not Work With The Open
Source Linux Ubuntu 7.04 RTW Operating System That The Computer Came With,
Hence My Reply To Alias, Just FYI.

The Only Way To Get The Internet To Work With It Is To Install Open Source
Linux Ubuntu 7.10 Alpha (Which Is Not Yet At The Beta Stage Just Yet), Which
In My Opinion, Is A Whole Lot Scarier Running An Alpha Operating System
(Open Source Linux Ubuntu 7.10 Alpha) Rather Than A Beta Operating System
Interim Build (Windows Server 2008 June CTP), Just FYI.

Maybe you should not be using Ubuntu. After all, it's a TOY operating
system, not amounting to much in the computing world. Very small number of
people using it these days. If you really want to get something done, go
back to XP. Ditch Vista and Windows 2008 Server for now.

Why would you want to use Windows 2008 Server in place of either Vista or
XP? Once the beta expires, Windows 2008 server will cost you much more than
the previously mentioned operating systems, you will have to remove it and
then be back where you were in the first place.

Just FYI

By That Time, Windows Vista SP1 and Open Source Linux Ubuntu 7.10 RTW Will
Be Out, Just FYI.

P.S. Open Source Linux Ubuntu 7.10 Alpha Does Include Support For My NIC,
The Only Problem Is That It Will Not Be RTW Until October 2007, Windows
Server 2008 Does Not Expire Until 2008, Just FYI.

The computer does not support the operating system for which it was
designed?
If so, you should definitely contact Dell.

The fact Windows Vista is not recognized is irrelevant since Ubuntu
also was not recognized.
Also just because Server 2008 recognizes it does not say as much about
Server 2008 as it does about the hardware that does not perform as
intended.

What other problems are hiding?
Contact Dell immediately for possible refund or support to resolve the
issue.

Betty Botter had a beta,
"But," she said, "this beta's bitter.
If I install this bitter beta,
It would make my 'puter bitter.
But a bit of better beta,
That would make my 'puter better."
So she got a bit of beta -
Better than her bitter beta -
And she installed it in her 'puter
And the 'puter was not bitter.
So 'twas better Betty Botter
Installed a bit of better beta.

You wouldn't know what to do with Windows 2008 Sever Public Beta Server 2008
RTM BFD CTP, if it bit you on the ass. Just FYI.

The other problem is your OS keeps putting Just FYI after each paragraph.
Just FYI.

Each word is capitalized, Just FYI. Maybe you should wipe your system

Install Windows 95. That should keep you busy. Just FYI.
