ESET on-line scan issue

As far as running or saving the .exe you only have to run it you don't have to save it. This is actually common for online versions of scanners these days from what I have seen Tony. I use Bitdefender online as well as Norton online for alternate scanning to augment WD. (I won't use the full Norton product of course) and they are the same you have to run a small .exe to have access to the scan functionality. Trend Housecall is also the same. You cannot do the free scan without running the scipt tool they provide that activates the basic GUI of the program and allows for the scan itself. My scan did take a while because I chose both the malware/virus scan and also possible incompatible programs etc. As far as the blacked out lines in the boxes you have there not sure, but it might help to know if you have ever seen this type issue before, and what system you are using when you view this site. I mean it could be something like a GPU driver issue or something along those lines. Or, could be a simple browser/OS issue.

Ok I see what happened looks like you accessed a different link altogether. This one, which will only install the .cab file. If you google Nod32 online scan it will give you two entirely different links, one will give you the .exe, the other .cab. I believe this was your link here.

Ok so we see here what is going on. One link installs the.exe which will reside in program files, and the other link installs a browser add-on.

In your last screen shot #32 I tick the first box, then in advanced I make sure the first four boxes are ticked.
Never had any issues scanning this way.

Actually the other scan, the first one scanned fine I didn't have the backout line issues, or any issue running the scan. I am now scanning with the other link too, though I don't need to you can see I have NOD32 installed. It looks like Tony may have a browser/driver or other computer issue there.

I had reset IE earlier that should have turned on Active X. Here's what I see. Additionally, I'm now trying https://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner-popup/. This is a different link than the one I was using. I got the notice to install the ESET control. This is what I'm used to seeing. The ESET Online scanner extension is now in IE. It wasn't there before.

I wasn't getting the option to install the control with http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/
