  1. It could be that it is actually downloading the Windows 10 onto the computer. That may take some time.
  2. That means it's not yet fully patched, Mike, There are still some updates that are needed.
  3. The only thing that I can think of is to try this troubleshooter, Mike. Download Get Windows 10 App Troubleshooter Tool Let me know how you make out?
  4. Try this, Mike and see if that works. Following are the direct download links of the required update KB3035583 which is responsible to install "Get Windows 10" upgrade app and its icon: Download KB3035583 Update for Windows 7 (32-bit or x86) Download KB3035583 Update for Windows 7 (64-bit or x64) Just download and install the update and your Windows will start showing Windows 10 upgrade icon in Taskbar notification area.
  5. You might not be fully patched yet, Mike. Is the computer running Internet Explorer 11? Make sure you have "always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar" checked.
  6. It would depend on whether he simply installed Windows 7 or if he took the official downgrade path, Mike.
  7. You need the Microsoft update to get the Windows 10 app. Have you gotten all of the current updates on this computer, Mike? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3035583#bookmark-prerequisite
  8. Mike, I think it depends on whether he had an OEM with downgrade rights and took that path. If he did, he may have to contact the OEM for how to proceed. There's some information here, referencing it. http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/licensing/sblicensing/pages/downgrade_rights.aspx#fbid=E-5UlISZUQB
  9. Did you right click Computer and select Properties?
  10. I pay almost everything online. If I write two checks a year, that's a lot.
  11. You need to have Windows 7 OS first, on the HDD first in order to activate Windows 10, Mike.
  12. That's funny but also a bit scary. Just shows how little signatures are compared. It bothers me, because, among other things, a lot of our historical documents are in cursive. Our next generation will struggle to read anything written in script.
  13. I have not although I do live in Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh is about six hours from where I live, Welcome to Free PC Help Forum, vpvalentine!
  14. You are correct, Lina. Cursive writing is no longer part of the required curriculum. I am in shock! :yikes:
