  1. Supersite This week, Apple released a developer preview of Mac OS X 10.7 ("Lion"), the next evolutionary update to the company's desktop OS. Lion takes many design cues from iOS, and Microsoft should examine these changes to see how Windows would most benefit from some of the designs Apple is now pursuing. ... View the full article

  4. Windows IT Pro An often irreverent look at some of this week's other news, including some news on the widespread Windows Phone updating glitch, Google's collaborative alternative for Microsoft Office users, a Windows Phone GPL controversy, a Microsoft non-compete clause that actually worked, an extended Windows Azure free trial, a Gears of War 3 release date, and Apple underwhelms with new MacBooks. ... 5. The new style is back on and fixed. As always post any bugs you find.
  6. I had to de-activate the new style as well as the others. There was an incompatibility issue with a few sections of the site. As soon as an update is released I'll turn it back on.
  7. I have installed a more modern style. This style highlights the newest posts and content instead of the forums themselves although the forums are still easily accessible from the left sidebar. If you encounter any bugs please let me know. This skin has been tested with Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Internet Explorer 8 and 9 so it should work for everyone. If you have display problems you can change your skin to the Microsoft Blue skin by using the skin chooser at the bottom of the page. Thanks and hope you all enjoy the new look of Free PC Help Forum.Org.

  11. Windows IT Pro If the initial Windows Phone "pre-update" is any indication, Microsoft was wise to hold off on updating its new mobile platform for so long: Some users have reported this update as having "bricked" their phone, which in some cases may require them to actually replace the devices. And Microsoft has allegedly suspended delivering the update to some users because of this issue. ... View the full article

  17. Windows IT Pro As I have said (and written) repeatedly, the future of computing is both highly mobile and highly connected. This is pretty obvious, and I make no claims to the title of industry seer. This week, however, I've come to the conclusion that my prediction is already half realized: Computing today is already highly mobile. The highly connected bit is going to prove to be the tricky bit. ... View the full article

  21. Given the very few (and occasionally confusing) leaks around Windows 8, an update as to how things are progressing is always welcome. Here’s a slide from a source of mine that is allegedly a snippet from the Microsoft internal Win 8 Milestone build timeline. View the full article
  22. On February 21, Microsoft officials told Windows Phone 7 (WP7) users that the company had started rolling out the first update for Windows Phone 7. Before you copy-and-paste-happy WP7 fans begin salivating — this first update isn’t NoDo. View the full article

Windows IT Pro Microsoft this week began priming the virtual pumps for the first Windows Phone software update by delivering a staged rollout of a pre-update, if you will, that updates the software updating mechanism in Windows Phones.
