These two problems appear to be related. I am unable to hibernate because the button for hibernate on the shutdown window is gone. When I try to shut down I get a message that MS updates are available but before the updates are completed (or maybe even started) the system shuts down. I am operating with XP View this thread

I have W7 with IE8 and MS Word 2002. Windows updates includes 1 for IE10 and 5 for MS Office 2007 suites. I have not installed them because I don't have either of those. Can they be removed from updates notices? And another - I have W7 with IE8. There is an update for MS Silverlight and one for Bing Desktop which I have not installed, because I don't have or want either of them. Can they also be removed from updates notices? If computers are so smart why can't they know those applications are not installed so I don't need their updates? View this thread

I installed SP3 from a cd now I can only start my desk top in safe mode . when I try to fined an answer for this problem I am told to remove the installed soft ware. There must be a way to keep the SP3 update and start the desk top computer? View this thread

I want to setup powerpoint in a collaborative environment (ie. multiple people can have powerpoint open and working on it at the same time and makin changes) on our own server running server2012. Cannot create "new folders" . Have seen others having same issue no solutions yet any ideas what could be the issue? Following the update I get the error message: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" on all page requests. If I restore to a point prior to the Update everything works again. I have a nine-month old HP pavilion PC running Windows 7 (64) and have been unable to install Update KB2769369 having an error code of 80073712. I have been in touch with the support people at my PC supplier and they instructed me on what to do and when this was completed they said they had solved the problem but I am still getting this error code on this update. I used the internet to search for solutions and have run the System Update Readiness Tool (Hotfix 947821), Microsoft Fixit, and installed Intel RST driver, none of which has worked. Please don't tell me to put the Windows installation disk in to repair Windows because, like most suppliers these days, no disc was provided with the PC. I immediately did a set of recovery discs when I received the computer but have no idea how to access the windows installation disk on these four recovery discs. Not only do I have this error but my PC says it has never installed any updates, despite the fact that I have installed over 140 since I had the computer. I have just been called by what sounded like an overeas technical firm claiming that my computer has not been receiving automatic updates. This sounded like a scam so I put the phone down. Anyone else had a similar experience? I note that my computer has indeed not received an update since 24th April but that it was checked this morning and indicates that there are no new updates available at this time. I am puzzled. I have never had this before. Has anyone else had a similar call? View this thread

I am updating from a clean re-install of Windows Vista Home Premium. I downloaded and installed the update readiness tool and tried the Windows automatic troubleshooter. However, Windows doesn't recognise the Automatic Troubleshooter. It doesn't know which program created the Diag.cab file and so can't open it. Going on line to find the program was also unsuccessful. Hello, after a recent virus infection, which has been removed, the Windows firewall service is unable to start(service specific error code 5). A virus and malware scan has been done. BFE has been given the right permissions and is working. MpsSvc also has the right permissions, but isn't working. Every thread/solution I tried, said I had to fix the BFE service permission and the registry permissions of several services, which I all did, and all are working except for MpsSvc. I hope someone can help me out, and if anyone has any questions please let me know. View this thread
