Dear Forum, I am facing an issue in regards to when I commence and update on a Windows 7 32 bit machine - one updates - including Internet Explorer - just recently it updated to version 9 to version 10. The other machine Windows 7 64 bit - stayed with Internet Explorer 9 - but updated some sectors of the program. I have noticed that you can go into programs and see the features of what becomes updated. Can someone please explain why and how Windows chooses what becomes updated? This is what I mean in the below skydrive link https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=7A797BF1CB645296!905 I have not altered anything in what becomes changed View this thread

I have received 800B0100 and 8024200D errors several times during automatic updates, apparently for KB2604115, KB2729452, KB2742599, and KB2604115 (the update history doesn't seem to say which error was generated by which update, but all of these updates failed, and these are the two error codes I received).I tried all of the recommendations from help several times, including the System Update Readiness Tool and Fixit.I am using a brand new computer, with Windows 7 Professional SP1, 64-bit. The first or second time I turned it on, it installed about 171 updates.THE ANSWER IS NOT TO REINSTALL WINDOWS, BECAUSE I JUST INSTALLED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME, SO THERE IS NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT I WOULD HAVE A DIFFERENT RESULT THIS TIME. I didn't do anything strange to the computer, or install anything unusual (mostly Microsoft Office and a few other standard programs).I saw that many people have had these same errors, and not gotten satisfactory answers in this forum (mostly it comes down to trying the tools I mentioned above that don't work, and reinstalling Windows or something similarly drastic). It seems to me that the problem is more with the updates than with our systems. Again, my computer is brand new, and these I received both of these errors on the first or second set of automatic updates, before I could have done anything out of the ordinary to mess things up. Basically it is what the question contains. I have tried the fixes that were pointed to solve the problem, but none of them really worked. Did try to run the Microsoft Fixit program, but it would not go. Also the Troubleshooting Pack Cabinet failed to get the Windows Update up and running. Even a command sequence provided by a fellow in the Microsoft Community I did try, but did not work again...I hope someone can feel it for me and my need for a good night sleep. Many thanksJuan V. HelloI am having trouble launching windows media player (product version 12.0.7601.17514) its as though it is just dead and nonfunctional, i dont know why as it has worked previously. My daughter tried to launch it earlier to play her cd and the following error message came up 'server execution failed'. Not sure what to do about it I've tried to apply the following fix but it hasnt worked:"Rename the WMP networking information folder ==================================== 1. Close Windows Media Player. 2. Click the Start Button, type "%userprofile%appdatalocalMicrosoftWindows Media" (without quotation marks) in the Search Box and press Enter. 3. In the open folder, right-click the folder 12.0 and choose Rename. Rename the folder to 12.0.bak. Register the WMP components ================== 1. Close Windows Media Player and any other windows. 2. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories 3. Right click "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as administrator", accept the UAC prompt. 4. Type the following commands and press Enter after each line. regsvr32 jscript.dll regsvr32 vbscript.dll exit Set WMP default =============== 1. Click the Start Button, choose Default Program in the right pane. 2. Choose Set your default programs. 3. Click Windows Media Player in the Programs pane. 4. Click Set this program as default, and then click Choose default for this program." I would appreciate any help. I have tried inserting a different CD (in case the CD was at fault) and I ma given the option to play using WMP but it doesnt launch (nothing happens at all) I have tried to scan it with my antivirus (mcaffe) but this just hangs! - just a thought is there a known issue with mcaffe and WMP? Thanks V View the thread

Hello Everyone, I am planning to combine Office 2013 Pro Plus and Office 365 in my own company but I have some questions for which I did not find the answers on the TechNet or official pages and FAQs: -Is it possible to expand the size of a mailbox in Office 365 for specific users or for all? If yes what are the prices and processes to follow? -Is it possible to invite someone external to the company, who might not have Lync or MOCS to a web meeting with maybe video? Like it is possible with WebEx. -Is it possible to expand the size of the SkyDrive space for specific users and common to the company? If yes what are the prices and processes to follow? Thanks a lot :) these questions are actually blocking its deployment as we need to address these issues... View this thread

I encountered the search-certified toolbar some time ago. I subsequently thought I had removed the item. Then when automatic updates presented at the taskbar it would hang without any dowload. I can access the web and the MS site, however, any attempt to go to downloads/update etc results with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". "It appears you are connected to the Internet, but you might want to try to reconnect to the Internet." Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address. This message is common to both IE and Chrome. I am not sure whether a malware issue remains or an additional problem exists? I have Avast (free), SpybotSD and Malwarebytes installed. Avast and SSD simply scan weekly in the hope that they detect and remove threats. I have run HijackThis, however, when run the result was unremarkable. Following some web info I installed and run the following: HitmanPro adwcleaner and tdsskiller. Interestingly, some search-certified toolbar items were discovered by the above and removed? Prior to the abovementioned actions I followed a number of suggestions found within MS community regarding the failure of the update function. Again, without success. Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Central Processor Intel® Pentium® M processor 1.70GHz Graphics Video Adapter Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family Video Memory 128.00 MB Screen Resolution 1280 x 800 Storage Total Memory 1.99 GB Free Memory 1.38 GB Total Hard disk 34.20 GB Free Hard disk 9.33 GB Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using windows 7 home 32 bit on an hp dv6-3230us. I first figured out I was unable to open my windows update tool but also my troubleshooting tool or system properties. My computer does absolutely nothing when I click it, as well as running as administrator. I've deactivated any AV that could be blocking. I've tried a clean boot and stopped any start-up or background programs that could be stopping it. I've used code found in these forums to try to reset my updater to no avail. Along with trying the malware scans posted in these forums. I do not have a restore point to work with, be sure to change that after i fix this. I've uninstalled all programs I've installed in the past six months. Attempted opening it in safe mode as well. I have been searching the community but haven't found any thread where someone gets no error message and theyre computer does absolutely nothing when they try to update. Please help View this thread

When trying to run Windows Update I receive an error 0x800f080d. I'm using Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I have run Hotfix for Windows KB947821 but that did not help. Also ran System File Checker -- still can't update. View this thread

Windows automatically updated last night before shutting down. When I turned on the computer this morning, the HP w2207h monitor was not functioning properly. Each time I rebooted, I received the message "HDMI Input: No Input Signal" before the monitor went to sleep.I do not believe it is a problem with the sleep and display settings as I have dual monitors and the EN9910 is functioning properly both are set to NEVER anyway. Further, I have plugged our SONY television into the HDMI port and it works just fine.I have also plugged the monitor into another computer, using the same cable, and both worked just fine. The hp monitor also functions in the utility mode. Problem seems to exist only when Starting Windows. This has happened once before with a Windows Update, but I don't recall the solution. Please help.Thanks. View this thread

I installed IE10 to Win7 and my Windows Live programs all fail. I've tried 2011 and 2012 without luck, 2009 will run... but it is so old :-( I've tried the various repairs and running in compatibility mode - without luck. The programs will all try to start and then report they can't. If I run in safe mode the error reported is 0x80041161 but any of the suggested fixes for that problem have not work in my case. There is no revert or uninstall for IE10... and I'm not really sure it was IE10 that is causing the problem - it could be a coincidence. View the thread

I have a Pentium 4:> 992.9 MiB memory >(2) CPU's at 3.o GHz> 21.4 available disk space (with Linux installed, which I could remove). I want to run software requiring:>XP (64-bit compatible) (I was told the computer would run very slowly if I used anything other than XP)>Minimum 512MB RAM (1GB or more recommended) >600MB hard drive space required for software and user manual. >An additional 2GB hard drive space is required for all VST/AU sounds included with Finale 2012.Is my computer capable of doing this with Windows XP at 64 bit? I was planning on buying a retailed new unused copy of XP Professional on Amazon. I am computer illiterate except for using software - similar to driving a car and not knowing what a clutch really is. Thanks very much! View this thread

I rec'd a call from a "Technician at Microsoft", who said there is a problem w my computer that needed immediate attention and I should get on the computer and he would help me solve the problem.. I asked where he was calling from and his name so I could call back to verify the legitimacy of the call The number he gave me was 213-221-3528. His name, Frank Gomsh. I googled the number & found out this is a scam. What should I do if this happens again? View this thread

- 'get help' doesn't give me anything. Update failed twice. Thanks for help.
