  1. In a productional environment, you never do a software based raid, instead you have a dedicated controller. Also, usually you don't use 2 tb for each disks because of perfomances are really poor. If you right click DISK MANAGEMENT and then click on REFRESH you have the same result?! Microsoft cannot add a "pause" button because of the thing is managed by SOFTWARE. So, once the OS is turned off, the raid cannot be monitored anymore. 3GB/s doesn't mean anything... remember that your BUILT-IN RAID is managed by the same chipset, so your 3 GB/s must be divided by normal disk usage, raid rebuild. In a normal condition (2 SEPARATE DISKS), try to copy 1 GB file from disk A to B, your speed will never be 3 GB/s, instead 20-30 MB/s right? Right! So, if you want more performances, switch to a dedicated RAID CONTROLLER (a good one costs about 200$).
  2. Mhhh well this is quite strange... It looks like an update or something like that has screwed up something... Anyway, try what I've said...
  3. Hi, Everything depends on controllers / software used. Rebuild a 2 tb disk is a huge work, on windows disk manager you can simply update the screen to get the current status. Usually you can't restart (or you shouldn't) your system, once you do this, the process will restart. I know that some controllers have 2 options via a GUI on windows: priority and resume. As said only some controllers have these features...
  4. Are you sure it is well configured? http://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html
  5. Again, there are two ways: If you have Windows installed, you can simply add the router role and assign one NIC to internal and the other to external. If you want a transparent bridge, well, you must switch on a linux distro (there are many).
  6. Just to understand... Try to re-install office on a pc, then on another pc try to rollback (restore) on previous day when you were able to open that file.
  7. Try to disable the passive mode... it looks like there's a firewall which is blocking you.
  8. Because of you have a SWITCH, you cannot monitor all the traffic. There are 2 solutions: 1) What you have said: put your server as a "bridge" with two NICs and monitor ALL THE TRAFFIC WHICH IS GOING TO THE ROUTER, NOT to all other devices. So, if PC 1 communicates with PC 2, you cannot see anything. 2) Check if you switch supports PORT MIRRORING. If yes, enable it on a port of the switch, then plug in a cable from that port to your server and now you can really monitor ALL the traffic which is travelling on your network.
  9. no this is not a virus... Search in the registry the following word: MSWord6 And tell me what you can find. Are you using Office 2003?
  10. Ok, from the excel file I can't get relevant data... First of all we must understand WHERE the data is destinated / generated. Because of you can't spend money, I don't think you have a free pc with 2 network interfaces... so... let's make a test. Turn off all your devices that you don't need (I mean computers). If you have a wireless network, turn it off too. We must do everything step by step, unless you don't have a pc with 2 interfaces...
  11. Yes try to copy from 2k3. MSWord6.wpc is a file used to convert very old files (word 6). Anyway, when you have that message, if you click the red cross, it should open your file...
  12. Mhhh I assume you are using office 2007... Try the following: Delete this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Text Converters\Import\MSWord6.wpc If this doesn't help, copy this file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TextConv\MSWord6.wpc From a computer which is working...
  13. I send you my e-mail as PM so you can give me the excel.
  14. Hi, I have questions for you: How do you know that? Have you seen a report? Log? Where do you this traffic? Router? Server? Pc? How can you be sure the traffic is going IN and not OUT? Right now I think the traffic is generated by updates, but I'm not sure...
