ChrisR Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Ive got a small problem that I am hoping that there is someone out there who will be able to help me with. I am doing a course at the Open University that requires me to to run Windows Server 2008 on it. However when I try to do this I get the following message. "This computer does not have enough space for temporary files. Windows installation needs at least 455 megabytes (mb) of space on any partition for temporary files. To install Windows, free enough space and restart the installation" I would greatly appreciate any help that someone might be able to give. Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted September 18, 2010 FPCH Admin Posted September 18, 2010 You don't have enough space on your disk to install it. As the message says you need enough room to store temp files for the install on the main partition. Clean some space or install on a new disk. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
ChrisR Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 You don't have enough space on your disk to install it. The thing is according to my system I do have more than enough spare memory. Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted September 18, 2010 FPCH Admin Posted September 18, 2010 It's not memory. Its disk space. Your main partition doewsn't have the space to store the temp install files. One thing occured to me. I have seen this error when I had a USB storage device connected. The disk on this device was full. Windows puts files in places it shouldn't at times. Once I disconnected the external disk and started the install again it worked. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
ChrisR Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 I totally understand what you are saying, but again I have enough space on my hard drive. I guess I will have to get in touch with my tutor if all else fails. Quote
