Guest appear Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 As head of IT in a small company I've installed a Windows Server 2008 to function as domain server. We have about 60 client computers on the domain and the functioning of the server is quite important. Since the server is so important, my employer and I decided it should be running in RAID1 in case one of the harddisks breaks down. When I configured the server, there was only 1 hard disk so now I have bought another copy of that hard disk. As you might know, when installing a raid configuration (from Dell) you need to rebuild the disks. That means all the data that was on the disk gets wiped out. Here is my problem: After I've installed RAID1 on my disk(s), will the backup system from Windows Server 2008 get all my previous configurations? And I mean EVERYTHING such as DNS configuration, domain forest settings, MAC adresses for client computers etc etc. It will be a whole lot of work if I have to configure everything from scratch. Also it will cost my company serious downtime if they can't access development server which is also on the domain. Any help and information appreciated, Fabian Quote
